What's your go to for layering ? Conditions are Cold 20-30, Wind, Sitting in a tree stand. I'm bow hunting so I need to remain free to draw etc. I have good boots and merino wool base layer and socks. Thanks and have a blessed day.

Sounds like you got it covered.

Maybe I’m stating the obvious but don’t skimp on bibs and leg layers. High quality bibs changed the game for me.

Wool layers for sure, like you said.
I like a vest as one of my layers. Allows for easier draws.

Make sure you have a good hat (not a ball cap).

If my feet start to get cold I'll bring an extra pair of wool socks and put them over my boots. It sounds dumb but it works better than wearing 2 pairs the normal way

Damn, sounds genius to me. Two pairs of socks on drives me insane. Going to dig out my 20 year old wool socks that are stretched as all get out and test the theory out.

I wear these wool military pants with an under armor base layer.

If I got my bibs and my carhart skull cap. I'm usually good. No matter how cold it is. If really cold I put a hot hands under my hat and I'm good to go.

I try to keep my feet as warm as I can. It can be 50 degrees out and if my feet get cold i'm miserable. Good base layer of thermals then thick outer layer. I like the vest idea for bow hunting under a jacket.

My usual is:
Long John’s base layer
Sweatpants and a flannel shirt
A vest if it’s very cold or windy
Insulated bibs and overcoat
Wool socks and insulted boots
Wool gloves with flip-back finger covers
Wool ski mask flipped up as a beanie, which I can pull down over my face if it gets windy or too cold.

Heater pack under my cap
Heater packs in my pockets
Heater packs next to my kidneys

Sitka jacket made for bow hunting with the kangaroo pouch in front. Add more layers as needed such as thin fleece vest. Stormy Kromer hat is good for cold. Make sure you have a wind proof outer layer.

I fish in the high 20s and low 30s all winter. I wear insulated LaCrosse boots, Grunden bibs and a Grunden jacket. Layered underneath I've got merino wool.
If it gets really cold and nasty, I wear ice fishing bibs. I also have some neoprene gloves.
Gotta put the work in because every late dall/winter I'm trying to break the blue catfish record along with deadsticking for stripers.

The right clothes, and you dont need alot.
-90+ % merino socks
-inaulated boots
-merino base layer (first lite for me)
-have a cheap fleece union suit and 1/4 zip over that
-UA insulated bibs and jacket
Thin full face mask and beanie
This part is the key for me. I dont wear gloves, like to be able to feel things. So i have a quaterback pouch around my waist, and hand warmers in them. Used to just get throw away ones, but invested in a $30 rechargeable one and man its way nicer than i thought it would be. But disposable ones are fine

As far as keeping your hands warm and free for drawing, I like a “fanny pack” style hand warmer. Many models to choose from.
I use a waterproof, wind proof with elastic hand holes that keep the wind out. Throw a couple of hand warmer packets inside and everything stays toasty.
When you need to draw, just pull your hand out. No bulky winter gloves to worry with. In extreme cold I’ll throw on a thin pair of UA gloves for a little extra protection.

If you have a long walk, pack in your outer layer. Back when I climbed a lot, I’d pack my coveralls n strapped to my climber. Avoid sweating on the walk in.

This. I wear as little as possible on the way in. Once i climb my tree, I’ll layer up.
