It sadly shut down. Just not enough people going to see it. Largest private collection East of the Mississippi.
Frank Spain(former owner of the local TV station) procured all of those vehicles with he money he made traveling around upgrading TV stations to microwave signal. I used to know his wife and one of his engineers. Heard some great stories about how he got a few of those vehicles. They had everything from 1890's steam vehicle(basically a platform with wheels and a bench) to the aforementioned Tucker, to a '92 Viper with 11 miles on it. The reason why the viper has such low mileage is because Frank and his lead engineer/mechanic loved to frick with the cars and trashed the wiring. Dodge took one look at the wiring and said " sorry guys yall are on your own with this one."
Really sad that place couldn't support itself.

There is a burger place there where you can sit in the exact same booth that Elvis sat in 60 years ago. You can tell which one by the photo posted of him sitting in it.
You are thinking of Johnnie’s. One of my favorite places.

Whatever just happened to going to the library and reading a book to kill time?

Another vote for Neon Pig. And the same guy owns Kermit’s Outlaw Kitchen in old downtown. Which is also excellent.
Lots of good eating in Tupelo.
Go to the Ace hardware downtown and stand where Elvis bought his 1st guitar. He went in to buy a 22 rifle and got a guitar instead.

Show some stones and plant a Georgia Dawgs flag right in front of the police station/city hall.

Rebranded as Kermit's Soul Kitchen. A kind of eclectic bbq joint.

Harvey's is really good in Tupelo, but I think there's one in Starkville as well.

Damn, when? Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had.

Appreciate all the feedback in the thread. Looks like I’ll hit as many Elvis spots as possible and Neon Pig.

Heading to Starkville for Friday and Saturday nights. Feel like two nights is probably plenty there. Never been to Tupelo, but leaving for the trip on Thursday evening and was interested in staying somewhere other than Huntsville (great time, btw), Birmingham or Tuscaloosa. Will get in to Tupelo late on Thursday, sleep and then be in town for about six hours the next day before heading to Starkville.

Skip the Pig. If you like good food and a kick arse tap collection, the Canoe is the best spot in town. Live music most nights too.
Downtown has a lot to see as well. Several good spots to eat as well.
The Elvis place is a great idea too. Lived here 45 years so it is old hat to me. But it is the fricking birthplace of rock n roll, so should probably be seen.
Stay away from the north end of town. It is just the mall and the typical chains.
Someone mentioned the Shade Tree, not a terrible spot to have a beer and shoot a game of pool.
It isnt really a happening town, so six hours should be plenty to spend here.
The people here are some of the best you can meet. Get out and walk around downtown and meet some folks.
You'll like it I think
