I cursed myself! On Saturday it would not start. It ended up being the starter. The starters on these babies are under the intake. Ended up be $$$! Still a great vehicle!

Me and my wife just bought a CX-9. Used they are a great value, even new. We picked up a ‘19 touring with 30k for $26k. I can’t speak for the longevity but it has great reviews on that. It was Our favorite and it wasn’t close. We test drove just about all that you mentioned. It doesn’t feel like a suv. Has a real sporty feel to it. I find it also has the most comfortable seats as well.

Try test driving a Volkswagen atlas, more specifically 2021 and up. They’ll surprise you on how fun and easy they are to drive. Me and my wife just bought one with AWD and it’s been fantastic. Great fuel mileage too. The technology is very impressive on it.

Grand Cherokees have a terrible reputation for maintenance issues.
Wife had a 2020 Grand Cherokee that was in the shop constantly over 3 years for an issue that multiple Dealerships proved unable to fix. Traded it in just before warranty expired for an Acura MDX. Will never buy a jeep again, but that is just my experience.
I am a big Subaru fan and would go with the Ascent from your list of options.

Nissan finally dropped the CVT on the new Pathfinders and now use a 9 speed.

$4,200, can haul your Ford Escape to the dump and will put everyone at soccer practice on notice.
That’s about how much it would cost per week to drive to and from soccer practice, too..

Can you remove the second-row seats of the CX-9?

No, but they fold down completely flat.

Honda or Toyota, can't beat these at comparable price points.
Jeep Grand Cherokee we had began wearing out around 80,000 miles and got much worse around 100,000 miles. Even though it had been well maintained. Window motors and tracks more than once, rear axle, valves, multiple sensors, radiator, water pump, alternator. It was dependable up to around 80,000 and loved it.

Stop being a pussy and buy a real suv. Grand Wagoneer is the way to go. Best suv on the market.

I just bought a '23 Santa Fe Limited. The Limited and Calligraphy come with the 4 cylinder turbo. I'm coming from a Honda Accord Hybrid and the Santa Fe is noticeably quicker.
I got the car for around $42K before taxes and extended warranties. It came with a few things I didn't want (Permaplate, other dealer add ons) that I negotiated down a good bit. It comes with 10yr/100K powertrain and I added on a warranty that basically covers everything else except tires/rims/windshield for $2500. It was originally priced at $4,000...I'm sure I could have haggled more but that was fine. So now pretty much everything is covered for the next 10 years.
I like it a lot. A lot of high end features are in this car. You could get a very similar model with the smaller engine for around $37K. My main things were to have a lot of the new "tech" and a warranty that would take me to my retirement in a vehicle around $40K. I went a little higher but stayed in the ballpark.
