We have a 2014 Nissan Armada with 167,000 miles on it and love it. Had 2 Suburbans prior. A 1994 and 2003 and miss the extra space behind the 3rd row but we have no real deal breaker issues and would buy another.

Is the SUV a requirement just for looks? A minivan will give you superior cargo area, ride and comfort. Most will collapse the rear seats into the floor and give you a huge amount of space for cargo. Car-like ride quality and comfort and good gas mileage as well.

Honda pilot, dont get a 6 speed, though.

I haven’t considered a van - I was mainly looking at suv

My coworker just had to have her 75k mile Cherokee in for a rear main seal leak. Nice $2400 bill.

Passport, for sure. Unibody construction for a comfortable ride. Plenty of space in the back, and can find a certified one in that price range. Better resale value than all of those, and the longevity of a Honda. Not to mention safety.

From your list if you also add in reliability then Highlander first and Pilot second. While SUVs like the 4Runner are extremely reliable the ride quality is a definite notch or two below a modern CUV. As someone who often travels quite a bit by car for work a comfortable ride when you are racking up miles makes life so much better.

Mazda cx9 you can get one brand new for under 40k
Definitely one to consider along with the Honda or Toyota. Mazda has really stepped up their game in recent years and offer really nice vehicles at decent prices.

My mom has a newer Highlander. I was surprised how much room there is in there. My wife has an older Lexus RX350 and I think I'm going to get her the Highlander for her next vehicle

Hyndai Tucson/Santa Fe/Palisade
Jeep grand Cherokee
Toyota Highlander
Kia telluride and maybe Sorrento
Volkswagen Atlas?
Subaru - Ascent
None of the vehicles you listed are SUVs, they are all unibody crossovers.

Traded my 06 F250 for a 22 highlander recently Amazing vehicle so far, about 2 months old. Very easy driving, lots of driver assist features and rides great! Lots of cargo area along with third row seats. Never thought I’d like an SUV better than my truck but, I do!

It’s unpopular here bc the front grill was designed by a 10 year old disturbed child but I really love my X7. Big enough to haul a pack of boys around and switched to sports mode or Manuel when I’m running late or want to have fun n country roads.

Nice car that I would never buy. Grand Cherokees have a terrible reputation for maintenance issues.
Replaced the alternator (and it was paid for under a recall)
Presently in ‘20 Grand Cherokee with 105k miles on it.
Zero maintenance issues so far.
I’ve not heard of anyone in my work or personal life with this iteration of GCs that have echoed your sentiment.

When we were shopping for an 8 passenger mid size suv 3 years ago - I really liked the Honda Pilot
The Highlander is very nice, too.
But we went with a Chevy traverse bc the interior was the biggest.

Even though you said 6 Cylinder - I will also recommend you check out the Mazda CX-9. I think it drives better than most of what you listed.
The SkyActive Engine is a mature system - I've had mine 3 years with no issues. You get more HP with Premium gas, but the engine doesn't require it. It will adjust if you want to use lower cost/lower octane.
It's only offered as a Turbo 4 - but has plenty of power.
I considered a Highlander, but it literally had no driving experience to it. I own a Tundra and the Tundra is a more entertaining vehicle to drive.
CX-9 gets bashed because of the cargo space with the 3rd row up - lots of space with them down - but you have a 3rd row if you need it.
2nd row captains chair are nice.
I almost always drive in "Sport" mode - wife doesn't even know how to turn it on

Best choice - but FYI, it loses the V6 for 2023.

Thanks - I’d probably just leave the third row down. Sounds familiar with the sport mode
