November 6, 1982. In Birmingham, I was there.

LSU was undefeated (7-0-1) and ranked 11th with All-Americans Albert Richardson and James Britt on defense and on offense the "Dalton James Gang" backfield -- freshmen tailbacks Dalton Hilliard and Gary James -- along with quarterback Alan Risher and receiver Eric Martin.

The Alabana Crimson Tide came in 7-1 and ranked eighth on an 11-game winning streak against the Tigers, dating back to 1971. The Tide featured All Americans on defense like Mike Pitts, Jeremiah Castile and Louisiana native Tommy Wilcox.

At the end of the day, The streak was broken. LSU won 20-10, holding Alabana to all of 119 yards and forcing seven fumbles and recovering four. Risher was player of the game with 218 yards of total offense, completing 20-26 passes.

After that, Bana was no more. They fell to No. 17 and lost to Southern Miss. the next week, and fell out of the rankings. The next week they lost to Auburn.

LSU broke Bana and the Bear quit. Retired after that season.

Anyone who says LSU can’t compete with Bana was not there that day at Legion Field when at half LSU was ahead 17-0 and Alabana had gained all of 32 yards on offense and not gained a single first down. It was a slaughter.

It’s time to retire Saban. Break the elf. Send the Tahd reeling like we did in 1982.

Another Icon gone….

So was I; representing the University in the stands and on the field. (GBFTL BD back in the early Wickes years)

My #1 most satisfying win while in Tiger Band. (Hated Bama because of a long rivalry with my uncle from Tuscaloosa)

Dalton Hilliard was a monster in that Game! He ran right over a Bama safety and then stepped on his chest as he kept running.

Would love nothing more than to break Saban and send him to retirement.

I was there. LSU was driving and about to score again. A complete domination by LSU at Legion Field. BB said it was a good ole whipping by LSU. The 20-10 score was misleading. Was never close at all. Should have been 27-3.

I played high school football with Albert Richardson (and Eugene Daniel). Full grown man even then.

I was there. I remember it being cold. And the astroturf. We walked into Legion Field with a grocery sack with 2 six packs. The score of 20-10 is not indicative of how we dominated Alabama.

No First downs for Bama in the first half...Dalton H was a beast. I was at the Rohan game years later... Their fans melt down as epic as anybody... My dad and I listened to their post game in it's entirety. Good times...

I was there as well.

Spent the night in a hotel off the interstate in Tuscaloosa.

Crossed the road to Mc Donald’s. It was full of butt hurt Tide baws. I yelled geaux Tigers going out the door! Two carloads chased us around for about 20 minutes.

The next morning we crossed over the interstate for breakfast at a buffet like a Shoney’s. It was full of Tiger Fans! We had a pep rally! One side would yell GEAUX, and the other side would yell Tigers.

It was glorious!

I’m not hear to brag… but I’m here to brag…

We made the Bear quit then and made Saban quit last night. Sban is done. Book it.

The only question is, who will be their new coach?

On to the coaching changes board!
