Has there been a 2 loss team in the Playoff before?

Yes, this is getting ahead of this weekend, but the thought just came to mind--has there been a 2-loss team in the playoff before?
I can't think of any (too lazy to find something that shows all of the records, either). IF the Tigers can run the table, that would obviously make them the first.
How crazy would that shite be if LSU is the first 2-loss CFP Champion after they were the first 2-loss BCS Champion?
Go ahead, bash me for this. I blame these thoughts on the committee filling me with false hope with the #10 ranking and highest ranked 2-loss team at this point.

To this point there have not. Been a few in consideration but need some help with conference champions having losses in a perceived weaker conference.

No, but I can think of a 2 loss team that made it to the championship game.

17 Auburn would have been if they beat UGA a second time

2 loss LSU team in 2007 won the bcs championship but no 2 loss team has made it since 4 team playoff started.

No there hasn't and there will not be a 2 loss team in the playoffs this year either. We are not winning out. Seriously, it's a nice thought and hypothetically yes we would be in, but its not happening this year.

There are a lot of teams that are undefeated or with one loss. Tenn and UGA have to play, OSU and Mich have to play, TCU probably has to lose, Oregon and USC each have one loss and have to play. I just don’t see a scenario in which a 2 loss LSU gets in, even if they win out and beat an undefeated UGA or Tenn.

No. 2 LSU played what was hyped as one of the most exciting games ever played in Tiger Stadium against No. 9 Florida in 2007. The game is also known for the LSU students leaving thousands of messages on the phone of Florida quarterback, Tim Tebow, prompting him to give a "telephone" hand gesture to the LSU student section following an early touchdown. Florida began the fourth quarter with a 24–14 lead, but behind solid defense and being a perfect 5 for 5 on fourth down conversions, the Tigers were able to take the lead 28–24 with 1:06 left in the game after a Jacob Hester touchdown to defeat the Gators. It was LSU's first national primetime game on CBS since 1981 and the game has been dubbed, "Primetime Drama." LSU went on to defeat No. 1 Ohio State in the BCS national championship 38–24, becoming the first school to win two BCS national championship titles and improving their BCS record to 4–0, the best of any team. They also became the first two loss team to ever play in the BCS national championship.

Question? is the winner of the SEC championship game automatically in the playoff, regardless of w/l record?

The #10 ranking to me signals that the committee puts LSU in if we win out. Monumental task but it's awesome to even be in the position. Win this week and we move to 6 or 7 and would likely go into the SECCG at 5 just needing to win to leapfrog the SEC east team whether it be Tenn or Georgia.

Of course there has - LSU in 2007. And the playoffs were half the size that they are now. We didn't call them playoffs because only two teams made it, and there was only one game.

I'm not convinced we would get in. Really depends on how many spots the SEC will be given and how the games play out. The Big Ten and the SEC have at least one spot each. Who in the SEC will get that spot first, and will the SEC get a second spot is the question.
First, I'm not a fan of the selection committee for such a small number of spots (playoff expansion will alleviate this). These people are massively conflicted and at their core they are political animals who are very good at delivering what their bosses want.
They've got a lot of the press fooled that they are just paragons of truth and justice by bringing in these mostly innumerates to impress them in mock ranking sessions with reams of data. But most of that is just smoke and mirrors to justify anything they want.
Don't know what their bosses want, other than money, but would they exclude both undefeated Clemson or TCU? If so, would they also exclude USC who only has a 1 point loss away? Or the loser of the B10 in a close game?
If there is only one spot for the SEC, who gets it? Even in the BCS era, they didn't respect the conference championship (2003 OK lost BAD to KSU). Let's say TN loses a close game to GA this weekend. Do they take us or TN. Worse still, say Hooker gets knocked out of the game, but not the season. The committee really likes to project things when it fits their narrative.
The point of all this (if you got this far) is that I don't think it's guaranteed we make it if we win out, unless it's 2019 style, and that ain't gonna happen.
