I was instructed by my wife that I was breaking out the DJ gear tonight for Halloween. So I've been trying to put together a quick playlist that wouldn't scare the neighborhood kids too badly. I've been cruising the web today and pulling songs into Serato. Most of the online playlists I've seen have the same old songs, Thriller, Ghostbusters, Alice Cooper, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Monster Mash, Time Warp, and lots of others. However, one of the best Halloween songs that every single one of them seems to miss is "Concrete Blonde - The Bloodletting".

Are my tastes to obscure or am I off base with my thought on this one?

Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting (The Vampire Song)

quote:

There's a crack in the mirror and a bloodstain on the bed
There's a crack in the mirror and a bloodstain on the bed
Oh, you were a vampire and, baby, I'm a walking dead
Oh, you were a vampire and, baby, I'm a walking dead
I got the ways and means to New Orleans
I'm going down by the river where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink and walk around
I got a lot to think about, oh yeah

What other ones do you have?

Good one. Did you know this song was the inspiration for Ice T and body count to make "Cop killer"?

Just wanted to link this classic cover by a British band c. 1965. No one knows exactly when it was recorded; it exists only as an acetate, as this band apparently never released a record.

Jimmy Cross - "I Want My Baby Back"

This actually made the Billboard top 100 pop chart

This also made the Billboard top 100 pop chart

Further comment would be superfluous
