Now that’s a curious story. there’s a group of us that watch the tigers on tv. Don’t miss a game football basketball or baseball. One of those fella has a grandson who does a radio show about sports. He’s on fm frequency 104.5 easy for me to remember as that was also our transmission frequency during the battle of the bulge. Anywho I’m listening in one day and some caller starts in on the tiger rant. So I get curious and ask around. Next thing you know my wrinkled arse has about a million new friends.

Yea sir the world was in black and white back then. These folks who are turning the old film into color are ruining my memories. Funny thing is even after it turned to color most people still stayed in black and white. Still confuses me. Fist car was my feet. Second car was a bike. Third car was an Edsel which was a piece of crap. Never bought another Ford. I’m going with boobs. They have a geographic advantage being on the front means you see them coming. A booty will sneak up on you.

No no and no. We were always self sufficient. Always had a garden a few milk cows a few beef cows and a Shetland pony for fun. Unfortunately we had to get rid of the pony because this kid named Justin from down the track a ways used to sneak over and try to mount him all the time. My brother Hiram sure whipped his butt a few times but he was persistent. My dad figured it was best to remove the temptation.

So for a real long time gay just meant happy or fun. Hell no one ever told me it change until it was almost too late. Me and some of the fellas from Exxon used to grab a beer after work. We were looking for a new spot and someone heard about this new gay bar. Well we all thought it a great idea seeing as how the even the name was happy and fun. We show up and it’s a real lady show except there wasn’t a lady on the place. We scooted right out and back home. Stopped going for beers for a while. Well except for Lucien. He stayed that night. Never walked straight again. He got fired the next week. Believe he caught the aids too.

Name something you wish you had done in your 50's that you thought you were too old for at the time. Something you wanted to learn? Activity? Trip?

over here at St James place
Seems like a decent facility, all things considered. I was in there quite a few times hooking up telephones and internet for the residents. Mostly telephones. Anyway, it seemed to have a better vibe than some of the unfortunate places I've seen elsewhere. Unrelated, my wife ripped off a lot of that building design when we were building our own house.

My question: As someone who just passed half your age, I've basically lived like my genes will dictate how long I live. Absent an accident or self-harm like smoking/drugs, how much would you attribute longevity to lifestyle choices vs. superior genes? Also, if lifestyle played a role, was (is?) it worth it?

Son you DONT know squat. I graduate catholic at 15 like everyone else back then and went straight into service something you likely know nothing about. I fought side by side and against grown men and children. Towards the end the krauts were sending babies to the front. Babies!! Enjoy the freedom my 15 year old arse earned for you.
