It's been more than a year for me. Taste is probably 80%, but not a sharp. I can only smell really pungent odors (most house candles I cannot smell) and ammonia - typically in urine and feces. I can immediately and strongly smell when my dogs go to the bathroom outside (and I have multiple acres so there are not going in one spot near the door or patio). Very odd, but I've just gotten used to the diminution of those senses.

All farts smell the same to me since I had COVID last year. My farts, the kids' farts, the dog's farts, same exact smell. Everything else was back to normal about 10 days after I felt better. It's the strangest thing.

Hate to tell you but I got delta last Labor Day (2021) and still have parosmia over a year later. I can smell somethings and taste others but all in all everything is still a bit screwed up as far as taste goes.
On a good note, I have found that things taste better after a few cocktails. That allows me to justify my drinking in order to get enough daily calories!

From having friends from southeastern Asia, I know that they don't appreciate sweet. After the first one turned down a second bite of a piece of chess pie, I tried it on others. Same result.
OTOH I can't handle their level of sour. If you have a Thai restaurant with a serious chef, you might ask him to make some dishes the way he would like them to taste. He might awaken taste buds that you haven't used before.

It sounds bizarre, but at our deer hunting camp, we found that whenever we gutted a deer and someone farted soon after (15 minutes or so), the fart smelled just like the deer guts did. Not pulling your leg at all. I think the brain just immediately associates the smell with the last bad thing you smelled previously.

I was just clowning you about the "aboot". Cool that your wife is a Canadian LSU fan, though.

Retrain your nose. I bought a pack of inhalers (the Vicks kind) and loaded them with different essential oils. Spend your idle time sniffing them and you will see significant results.
