Youtube

YouTuber Rose Anvil cuts apart boots to see how well made they are. He took apart the famous Alden Indy 405 boot a few weeks ago. he called it way overpriced for what ti was since it uses a bunch of weatherboard instead of real leather. He found some other flaws too.

Alden charges $626 for them now.

I don’t like the content creator he seems like a bitch.
Wolverine 10k are a better boot and I love Alden shoes but make a boot with shoe workmanship is not a good idea 360 ° welt should always be used

They may not be worth $626 but I bought my pair nearly 12 years ago, have worn them >2,000 times and easily have 10,000 miles in them on 2 resoles.

Wore them today in fact.

I find shoes, or rather the construction, an interesting subject. I watch the videos some. Mainly Rose Anvil and Bedo's leatherworks. I'm impressed how those cobblers can take a piece of crap and restore it to its former glory. I like how RA dissects and rips expensive crap that's cheaply built. I get tired of reading income statements and balance sheets and wore out all of Graham Hancock's books so its a nice intellectual hobby.

Is this my wife? Seriously this sounds exactly like something she’d say.

This seems unlikely. You’d have to do 2+ miles per day every day for 12 years to hit 10k miles. If you only wore them on average 3x/week (which is a lot) that means you would be putting 5+ miles on them each time you wore them. The math doesn’t work.

Why? You can't argue with what he finds when he tears a shoe apart.

If I'm paying that for boots I'm buying a pair of Nick's. In fact, I'd actually come out cheaper.

Sent him a 20 year old leather jacket a year ago. He fixed a tear and then re-dyed it five times, making it look brand new.

Is that the cat that took apart the Vietnam army boot and commented it was on the best military boots designed?

I will say this: I prefer wood heel blocks (mostly found in Italian shoes) because I like the noise they make when walking. Most people would say that is cheap compared to stacked leather
