re: EPA claims no knowledge of Mayor Broome’s stormwater utility fee NDA

It’s a 10% increase to the city’s overall budget.
There is no sunset clause.
There is no defined plan for what the money will be spent on, and what improvements they will make besides the vague stuff they’re supposed to already be doing.
They’re claiming it’s a “fee” because it’s not based on “the value of something”. So, despite the fact that it functions as a tax on every property owner in the parish, voters don’t get a say because it’s just a “fee”.
This stinks to high heaven, and that public meeting last week only made that MORE apparent. That crowd looked like they were one more bad answer away from lighting torches and sharpening pitchforks, for good reason.

The mayor's office specifically stated they had to sign an NDA with the EPA, and that's why the details of the $40 million fee could not be released to the public.
I don't have a dog in this fight, but this right here is complete and total horseshite.
"Sure, we're contemplating a tens of millions of dollar tax on the people, but we aren't allowed to talk about it before we vote on it."
frick. You.

If this is because of the feds pushing it, there are so many questions, namely, how long has this been looming while the mayor's office ignored it?
15 years.

Why is the Biden EPA/DOJ pushing so hard instead of working collaboratively?
They aren't. Thus Graves calling DOJ/EPA and them saying the NDA is bullshite. The NDA was a lie propagated by Broome so she could force a fee, rather than a tax, expeditiously. A fee is voted on by metro council. A tax must be voted on by the citizens of the parish.
Hudson stated that there are many avenues to not tack on a fee. He's outlined several cuts to other departments that can be made that would partially fund what is needed. But, he stated the mayor's office will not disclose the specifics and were simply trying to rush the vote with no consideration for cutting other programs.

All evidence to the contrary??
Um, the mayor's office telling a half truth about an NDA they probably don't have to sign isn't making them "innocent", bubba.

Sure, people involved "had" to sign an NDA, because she wanted them to have to. See this is a 4th option that would make Graves a liar, still. Either these NDAs exist or they don't. He says they don't.
Graves seems to be saying that the EPA made no such requirement to sign NDA’s. That means the mayor is likely the one lying about it.

Why are you insisting on spewing bullshite? The NDA was lies, and you are doing your best to cover for them. Why?

What?
Lord, Q and January 6 have literally rotted some of your brains.

The mere fact that these fricking retards were going to jam through a goddamned property tax on EBR property owners and not tell them a fricking thing about the specifics of why it was required, what it was supposed to do or how long it would be in place alone is enough of a reason to fricking kick every one of their worthless asses to the curb.
Plus if you poke around the map where they list what you'd owe if this went through, the results are WILD. I don't know what algorithm they implemented to determine your "impervious" footage but houses with a larger footprint than mine, houses with giant concrete driveways and patio slabs that extend past the roofline out into the yard, almost pay half of what I pay because they're going on what size the little green box is on the map and not if your house actually matches that footprint or has any concrete around it.

You get what you vote for?
Always the dumbest of takes. A very large percentage of voters did not vote for any of this and yet we will be impacted.
This would make sense if 100% of voters voted for Broome. Otherwise, it is a stupid stance.

He did more than that

He's saying there are no NDAs with fedgov whatsoever

Read the links, genius. It's all spelled out for you. You are covering for Broome. Why? She didn't tell a "half truth" or whatever you want to call it. She flatly lied.

Unless Graves is lying or telling his own half truth

Exactly, which means those NDA’s are a f$&king sham, and the scheme was likely concocted in the mayor’s office to keep people inside city hall and DPW from leaking details of how stupid this is to the press.

Or enlightened everyone to see right through your word salad bullshite. You talk down to people on this board all the time. Maybe it’s you who needs to look in the mirror.

A $40 million "fee" that the mayor's office says must be passed by October 26th, and refuses to give the reason why...and that's who you are choosing to believe?

This is what her constituents love. More reparations.
