When will the media turn on him?
Next year when he loses 4-5 games?

Year 3 if he doesn’t win 10 games

What’s his excuse for not winning right away?
It’s not like he was left with a bad team and had to rebuild
BK left them with a solid roster and Freeman had a great recruiting class

Eh, he doesn’t have a quarterback. Let him find a competent one, and we’ll know more.

When he doesn't have any more of Kelly's players to blame it on!!!

I watched the game with my brother and nephew last night (nephew is a Stanford alum). It was unreal to see such a bad Stanford team physcially dominate and push Notre Dame around.
Fact of the matter is, other than their edge rusher, who is really good, Notre Dame barely has Power-5 players in their front 7. Some of their linebackers, safeties, and defensive front are astonishingly bad. Stanford reminded me of a mid 90s Nebraska team pushing the likes of Kansas and Baylor around. They were physically outmatched.
Also, their QB looked uncomfortable. That said, his best target is their TE, which tells you the extent of their offensive skill players (they’ve got a pretty good RB too).
ETA: Looking at their remaining schedule, I see two wins - UNLV and Navy.

If you hire a 35 yr old head coach, you better have some patience
Like Texas Tech and Kingsbury

It’s ridiculous that people are talking about Freeman and Venables getting fired
It’s year 1. Every coach gets a pass on year 1. Both have top 5 classes for 23 and will have a great portal off-season a because people will want to play for a big brand.
They will be fine and both will get 3 years

I agree. However, it’s also ridiculous that Notre Dame promoted a defensive coordinator of three or four years to its head coaching position. He may be great, but it’s also a great, great gamble. Notre Dame isn’t the school that typically does that. They do their due diligence. I would have gotten Fickell. ND is, under no circumstances, short on cash, power and influence. If they wanted him, they easily could have gotten him.
Again, Freeman may be great, but they pulled an Alleva/LSU lazy move, in my opinion.

Marshal and Stanford vs Notre Dame = 2-0.
Marshal and Stanford vs all other FBS opponents = 0-7.
Marcus Freeman = 3-3 after taking over 11 win team.
Brian Kelly = 5-2 after taking over 6-7 team with 39 scholarship players.

This isn’t a rebuild though. He was given a NY6 team and has taken it to the gutter. ND is not a place for on the job learning.

The timing of their opening in conjunction with Cincy’s success made getting Fickell difficult. Fickell’s team was in the playoff, so he wasn’t coming until after they were eliminated. He wouldn’t even announce he was taking another job while still finishing the season with his current team like Scott Frost did either. Sure, Notre Dame could have waited, but they would have had no coach in place for NSD if they did that.

Kinda puts into perspective what BK was able to do there.
