2016 3.5 ECO with 140k miles. Not a single problem. Torque is great. Hwy mpg is reasonable.
Would buy again.

2021 2.7 Ecoboost here with 45K miles. 24-25 MPG HWY. Pulls my 22 Pathfinder pretty good as well. Had a exhaust sensor go out. Overall happy with performance. It has 300hp and 400FT/lbs of torque.

Purchased a 2018 3.5 eco in 2019, roughly 60,000 miles...drove a total of 15,000 miles before selling to dealership. In that time, had the cam phasers replaced 3 times, the radiator replaced, the a/c compressor replaced and finally a complete engine failure (many cracked internal parts) which resulted in a complete engine replacement. If you go for it, get the best extended warranty you can and expect to use it.

Yep - I have a 2019 XLT LWB 5.0 Coyote - pulling my boat I get 15-17 mpg and interstate cruising 22-23 mpg.
Turbos add complexity for no good reason.

You replaced the cam phasers 3 times in 15,000 miles?? I can't say I've heard of that before, but certainly makes me believe whoever did the replacement (dealership or other) did not know what they were doing.

2019 FX4 with 90kmiles, I average 18.5mpg for life of truck. I've gotten as good as 22mpg on road trips using two lanes where 65mph was the speed limit. I've pulled 22' Bass Boat and 16' Trailer with UTV without any issues other than 12-13mpg. As a daily commuter it runs like a scalded dog. Way more pep than the previous Ford and Chevy v8's I've had. Would buy another tomorrow.

3.5 ecoboost is one of the best truck engines ever made
I have around 250k miles on 3 different trucks with them
In eco mode I’ve gotten 27 mpg driving 70 mph. I average 23 normal driving

I own a fleet of vehicles. Ecoboost is luck of the draw. Some have no problems, others eat oil and other issues. My 2015 5.0 has had zero issues at 265,000 miles. We have a 2016 with the 5.0 with 370,000 miles and stock tranny that has probably 100,000 of those miles towing trailers from 3000 to 8000 pounds. The boost puts so much more stress on the engine components I think it finds a manufacturing weakness faster.

2018 here. yes, I'd do it again. No issues with the 3.5 at all.

I will not argue ...same dealership that did the work tried to convince me for months that the truck overheating, when driving below 0 temps going 60 mph down the road, was normal.

I have a 2015 eco 6 cylinder. It’s a great drive no issues bought new and have about 85,000 miles on it. I have got up to 26 mpg on trips and normally get 24 mpg on interstate driving. Usually get 20 to 22 mpg around town. I would buy over but I’m getting old and this might be the last truck I ever own.

I agree the Cam Phasers are a major nightmare!! Ford went into my engine 4 times in a year! The last time it started leaking oil on top of Cam Phasers acting up! But…. When the motor was right it was a beast. I now have a 2019 5.0 v8. Does all I need, pulling 22’ bay boat, or 40hp tractor. Kinda hard to beat the ole 5.0! Good luck!

Be equally concerned with the 10 speed transmission. Got rid of my 19 with only 29K because of it.

I have a 2019 F150 Ecoboost with close to 150k miles.
I’ve had the “Ecoboost” rattle for about 50k miles.
It feels underpowered when towing a trailer. I pulled a 16ft tandem axle trailer with two pieces of furniture on it this weekend and it was really noticeable. I’d hate to see what it would do with something heavier.
I think it’s an okay engine if you stay on pavement and don’t haul anything, but I won’t buy one again because of the bad rattle at startup.

Bought a 19 2.7L when I needed something to tow a bass boat with. Put about 15k on it so far and as much as I like it its nowhere near a perfect truck. Had the cat go out within like 3k miles of use and now if I tow the boat with anything less than 89 gas the sensor says its running lean. Mpg and torque/towing is great tho

Have a 2020 model number eco boost. Could have gotten exact same truck with a 5.0 for same price but didn’t for some reason. I thought the eco boost would get great gas mileage. It gets 20-22 on highway Pulls fine but I would go for the 5.0 all day everyday

I have a 2018 F-150 Platinum, 3.5 ecoboost.
At 60k miles I have had zero problems with the engine or anything else. It has been a great truck. Only towing I do is with my bass boat (4,000 lbs) and I forget it is back there. Pulls it with ease. Longest trips I have made with the boat are 4hrs one way and I hit about 17 miles to the gallon.

I have a new tremor 2022 with eco boost and I average 11.8 mpg. It at best gets 15 on interstate at 60mph and the dealership says that’s within the range. It hauls arse and pulls like a champ but don’t let anyone tell you lies about gas mileage.
Nothing ECO about it.
