He doesn't specify the four. Private Ryan and Castaway seem obvious to me. Maybe Apollo 13? Probably not Joe vs the Volcano.

This man had a throwaway self deprecating line in an interview and the internet ran wild with it.

It’s because it’s too brooding and boring

I mean, Hanks isn’t far off…most of his later movies suck balls

His height was the era of Big, Splash, The Burbs, Forrest Gump, Sleepless in Seattle, and Saving Private Ryan

Which was 25 years ago plus

People are taking seriously a comment he meant to be self deprecating and humble.

Man has one of the most solid filmographies in Hollywood.

Yeah I think he knows he's made more than 4 "pretty good" movies.

But if I had to pick 4, it'd probably be Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, and a tossup between Cast Away and Big

If he's talking about his acting he's being self-deprecating.

If he's talking about the movies themselves then he's kind of being a dick to all the people that worked on them with him especially the creative forces involved.

Wrong. He actually only had three pretty good movies:

Big
Apollo 13
Saving Private Ryan

Everything else was good at best (assuming pretty good > good). He has put out a ton of shite for someone so highly regarded.

I think he's being humble/humorous and I doubt anyone that worked with him would take offense. He seems to be one of the true genuinely good people that has never let the fame and fortune go to his head and is easy to work with. Probably why he always gets good roles.

I remember he was in BR shooting a movie years back and he was just sitting with someone eating at La Madeline and was nice as could be to anyone that stopped by to say hi. Apparently went a few times while he was in town and had a reputation as a very pleasant person.

Also the lead in all the Toy Story movies.

Which, people can say what they want, but they define the childhood of a generation and are amongst the most praised animated films of the last 30 years.

Well it is a great movie and having Hanks/Denzel in the same movie is an All-Star level cast.
