From 1976 until 2000, 24 Category 4 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 5 made USA landfall

From 2001 until 2022, 32 Category 4 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 13 have made USA landfall

From 1976 until 2000, 7 Category 5 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 1 made USA landfall

From 2001 until 2022, 14 Category 5 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 1 made USA landfall

Not much change in the number of Cat 4 storms but a huge change in how many are reaching the USA.

Outside of the obvious answer of climate change that we need to send trillions to the elite to solve while flying around in their private jets, what has changed to make more storms reach the USA?

FYI the National Hurricane Center currently estimates that a total of 38 tropical cyclones between 1851 and 2022 have peaked as Category 5 hurricanes. Only 4 of those have ever made landfall in the US. They are the Labor Day hurricane of 1935 that tore through Miami, Camille in 1969, Andrew in 1992, and Michael in 2018. So only one Cat 5 in recent memory.

ETA:

From 1976 until 2000, 22 Category 3 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 11 made USA landfall

From 2001 until 2022, 26 Category 3 hurricanes formed in the Atlantic. 10 have made USA landfall

I am going off of Wikipedia so if anyone has anything different let me know

Cause if it’s a Cat 5, you don’t have to pay your deductible.

That's why I didnt go back much further because the data would be more unreliable. I need to add Cat 3s to it to see what it shows.

solar activity is the biggest driver of weather and temperature changes. Men are mere ants compared to the Suns power.

Well the Indians, ahem, native Americans have refused to share their weather data from all the instruments they had measuring storm strength from the time before we showed up, so we really have no idea what a lot of category 4 or stronger per season is exactly. If they’d just share the info instead of building casinos we’d all be much better off.
