Cool Front Eve Grilled Brats

Alright, so yesterday evening I put some brats in a grill hot tub soak on the grill with a Sam Adams Oktoberfest or two, a stick of butter and some chopped onions. They were in there until internally cooked and removed to grill.
Of course I had to toast the buns a little.
And then I apparently grabbed too small of a plate or was really hungry. I think a little of both. Served with some crinkle cut fries and a couple of Claussen Kosher dill pickles.

My man! One of my favorite things to do on the grill. However, I'm the only one in my immediate family that eats them. Wife and kids hate em.

Local donut shop took brats, boiled them with Great Raft Commotion and onions and made kolaches. Topped with Everything Bagel seasoning and served with a Commotion dijon mustard-
I could have eaten 4-5 of them easily.

Those look amazing, beer brats are one of my favorites and a pretty regular meal at our house.
We usually cook bell peppers with the onions, and I add a shite-ton of sauerkraut when topping, but that's because I reeeaallllyyy love sauerkraut.

Mine will eat Conecuh sausage, but hates brats and hates the Italian sausage due to the fennel.

So, wanting to do this soon, I watched some vids to see what I may be doing wrong or right. There seems to be a huge controversy on piercing the sausage before cooking. I never have, but many seem to like it that way. Wisconsin disapproves mightily. Anyone here tried both?

You want to and what I did was........ basically cook the brats internally til done, I do a pan with a stick of butter, about two of your favorite beer and diced/sliced onions. When ready to serve grill the brats over a hot flame to sort of crisp the casing and I love the grill marks. Then serve! I was going to use sauerkraut but it got thrown out, the onions and a good mustard. At one time I had about 15 different kinds of mustard. Lol........... Enjoy!!!!!

In my experience, piercing lets more beer inside the sausage which is a win to me. It also helps let more of the fat cook out in the pan and on the grill. A trade off I don’t mind.

True but it does more to dry them out when doing the grilling part.

Those MFers know a lot about beer and brats.

Supposedly piercing the meat doesn’t really help according to the amazing ribs guy. I don’t know honestly but here’s what I’ve read.

I’ve been to a processing plant in Wisconsin and saw Johnsonville beer brats running. They had kegs of Miller beer and were adding the beer to the sausage. First time I had ever seen that in a processing plant.

Made them last night. Was going to post pics then realized how much crap I would get for the condition of my grill. maybe this will be the push that makes me clean it.
