I really don’t see how we pick up a point if we play like this in Qatar. I’ve never seen a U.S. team look more hopeless against average WC competition. We could play 360 more minutes with that lineup and never come close to scoring.
It’s unreal how bad they are. Gregg has no clue what to do.

Maybe Greg will pull a Coach O and bring in an experienced coach to help him with tactics.

It works vs shite teams in our federation
What I don’t get is the time we have actually seen change tactics vs Mexico it worked
The nations league final we did get lucky bc he didn’t and we should have been down a few goals in the first 30

He did change tactics in Nations League, we originally began in a 3-4-3.

Didn't get to watch the game but just listened to a bit of Counter Attack on Sirius. Both Meola and Wynalda have been roasting Greg. The sharpe knives are out.

GGG needs to throw his previous system out. Play 3 in the back with Jedi and Dest as wing backs. Play Pefok up top fit our talent around them Pulisic Aaronson Adams Weah et al and run people in the ground with young legs. Get our best 11 on the field.

Playing a third CB is the exact opposite of getting our best XI on the field right now.
We didn’t even have a 2nd CB this camp.
Turner
Dest-Zimmerman-Richards-Jedi
Adams-Musah
Mckennie
Reyna-Literally Some frick-Pulisic

I'm starting Aaronson over Gio. He's got a higher workrate and is more fit and in form right now. We'll see if Gio can get healthy and get a bunch of playing time and stats over the next 50ish days, but right now Aaronson has earned the start.

If Gio's healthy, you play him. Not even remotely a question.
He was our only attacker through these two matches that knew what a key pass was.

Right, it will need to be Zimmerman and Richards. Dest and Jedi as the fullbacks.
Musah and Adams in central midfield. Then I would have said McKennie but other options will need to be considered. Such as Aaronson.
Then I would say Pulisic, Reyna, and Pefok.
Not a great sign that we are going to rely on everyone coming back from injury.
I do think that players are scared about getting injured and the staff is being overly conservative with injuries right now (not necessarily a bad thing).

Mexico being shite has skewed how the U.S. has been judged under Gregg. The only 2 teams better than the past this cycle were Canada and El Salvador (barely). Mexico and Costa Rica are about as bad as I've seen from them. Honduras were horrible and Panama are ok but not as good as the past. Jamaica were pretty damn poor.
I've seen a lot of build up games prior to the WC and this was the worst I can remember. At least in 98 we beat the shite out of Austria before getting waxed in the WC.

I honestly don’t get how anyone could have Aaronson over Gio and even Weah.

I'll put it this way, if I felt like we needed to get Aaronson to start, I would rather him replace Pulisic than Gio.

Why can’t Reyna play midfield?

I just don’t see the need to have to force him in. This is not a knock on him I just think we have much better options on the wing

So who are you taking out of the midfield?

Because he's actually been playing for starters. And he's been really, really good early on in the EPL.
Actually, Weah has been our most dangerous player for at least a year now, if he can also stay healthy I'd start him over Gio too. He and Dest on the right side may be the only way we get the ball down the field.

We aren’t Leeds though and he has yet to overly impress for us. I hope he does but Weah was our best player throughout qualifying and Gio might be our best player overall

You can't say this:
Then say you'd start Weah over Gio.
Weah hasn't played for Lille yet this season.
