He’s already better than Diggs was at this juncture in their careers. It took Diggs multiple years to refine the craft.
Diggs was a monster the minute he stepped on the field. 19/300+ and a td his 1st 3 games played. He slowed down as the year went on though. Dont remember if that was qb issues or defenses catching up though.

Guess I gotta book mark this sucker too, though you will never concede the point regardless.
Like I said. I hope Im wrong. He will be good. Dont see elite wr1 talent though.

Those stats say it all. Can't blame him for the lack of touchdowns.
Or at least i wouldn't. The QB sucks.

Yeah I agree. It may come. He's going to have to get stronger for contested catches and more YAC-ability while keeping his agility.
He just doesn't seem to have that dog in him. We'll see if that changes.

Guy is 7th in the league in yards and ya still show your face in an Olave thread talking that talk
At least wait til he has a shitty game. Air yards is “YAC-ability”, and Olave is +160 over the next closest WR

I hope he gets even better.
Saints have to rebuild.
Can trade Olave for a legit 1st round pick next year.

Prob more but I stopped there. Olave is 7th in the league in yards and would be 3rd had he not fumbled that bomb vs Tampa
And would have even more if jameis even hit him on one of those deep balls.
He had him man beat both times.
Olave is flying by guys.

I agree DJ, but the crowd won’t for awhile here due to bias and the cost to acquire him. Everyone desperately wants him to be good and worth the acquisition cost as fans, so many will continue to have blinders on. He is a nice, high character kid (which is why we reached for him), solid number 2 type receiver. I think his peak will definitely be lower than Cooks. Cooks was a lot faster tbh.
I do agree people have blinders on and he is a much different receiver than waddle.
He is just as fast as brandin cooks.
Comparing olave to brandin cools is just wrong.
He is a much more refined player than cooks could ever be.
I do wish he had more yac ability but that's just not his game. That's why i said he is a much different receiver than waddle.
Thing is he will be good for 1 50 yard td a game at minimum. He can get that 12 yard put rpute whenever he wants it.
I see a borderline #1 type of guy at this point. It's hard to judge him off these games. The flow has been strange.

He better be for what it cost to get him. We’ll have a top 10 pick this year that won’t belong to us

I agree the flow has been super strange. The offense has looked like shite 85% of our drives and 90% of the time when it doesn’t, it kind of falls in the realm of desperation/garbage time.
I haven’t watched Cooks in awhile, but if I am remembering correctly, dude had 1 elite skill. He had top 3-4 speed in the entire nfl. He wasn’t a great route runner. He wasn’t a guy with perfect hands or body control. He wasn’t very physical and successful at contested catches.
Right now I see Olave as probably the better overall route runner, albeit not as fast. Olave has top 85-90% speed. Cooks had top 99% speed. All of the other stuff seems similar. But it is early and there isn’t much sample size yet.
I do think Olave will be a better locker room guy. Cooks had some “fake good guy” in him. Constantly talking about religion and being a hard worker, yet he was somewhat toxic at old man Brees for not throwing the deep ball as much as he liked, having to compete with Michael Thomas for targets, etc. There is a reason the dude was on 4 teams in like 3-4 years. So, I do think Olave likely has that over him as well.
I just can’t compare him to Chase or JJ. Those guys are just different. And it’s looking like Waddle might be different as well. Waddle has young Cooks speed, plus agility and the ability to make a tough catch.
Borderline 1 WR is probably right. To get all the way there, he probably needs to live in the weight room and film room and have a QB that he has an elite connection with (EX: Chase with Burrow).

Olave is so damn smooth, he never looks like he is accelerating or breaking

Then it's not that "wrong"
He gets the Cooks comp b/c of the lack of physicality and YAC.
Cooks is a borderline 1 guy, too. Has been for a very long time. It's not an insult to comp him to Cooks if that's how you see him.

Yeah he's going to have to get stronger without losing his quickness/explosion/speed and learn that he's going to take some hits.
If he can develop that mentality then he can get into that elite WR1 tier like a Diggs.

You’re missing the point
There’s only been 11 rookie WR to even crack 1k yards in the last 15 years. Chase & Jefferson have the highest totals at 1400+ yards each. Olave has now started hotter than they did out the gate
The point of the exercise is to enlighten the detractors. The stances are starting to shift from the bookmarked threads of months past but you folks are still not seeing big picture

I'm talking about comparing his actual skills to a brandin cooks.
I see a borderline one at this actual moment in time.
He could easily get past that.

I do think Cooks became a lot more refined post-Nola and he's established himself somewhat as a legit all around WR and not just a speed guy.
His multiple trades were b/c of his shite attitude. He thought he was prime Tyreke in Nola and THAT was hilarious b/c of how small he played.
*ETA: he also had Kyler Murray syndrome where his helmet looked too big for his body

I mean he never came a complete all around receiver.
I still think jameson williams has more game breaking ability than any receiver in this class
Olave is going to be just what the saints need when paired with mike thomas.
Will he ever truly be a top 10 number 1 guy? Who knows.
He can do about 85% of what a number 1 can do at this point. He does need to add more weight.
