Few people are talking about it but what Justin Verlander is doing this year is astounding

Man had Tommy John Surgery at age 37 with over 3000 ML innings pitched under his belt. When a pitcher has a major injury at that age with that much mileage on his arm, 99% of the time, they are done. Verlander has come back from Tommy John Surgery to pitch to a 1.82 ERA and is the favorite to win the AL Cy Young this year. Verlander should be mentioned in the same breath as someone like Tom Brady in terms of great athletes who dominated their sport for two decades.

I wish I was born with his genetics

I’m probably better at math than him though

Tommy John surgery is an improvement nowadays. All older pitchers should get it.

Verlander is totally Cy Young worthy once again.

Framber Valdez should be in that conversation though, he's got a great record, low ERA (though admittedly not sub 2 like JV), and 25 straight quality starts which is ridiculous.

Separate from that convo, people should keep an eye on Hunter Brown down the stretch. Brown is a top prospect who was just called up and is pitching his arse off.

I bring him up bc he grew up in Detroit back in the day idolizing Verlander, and mimics his entire motion on the mound. It must be weird for JV to watch.

I imagine I'd be top of the world as well if I were deep dicking his wife too.
