I just finished ep 3. Not sure what people are complaining about, unless they wanted some silly and childish Star Wars take (which is what people WERE complaining about).
This show is definitely for adults. I'm getting a big IRA vibe, it's like they scooped Andor out of Northern Ireland. Honestly, it fits the Rebellion motif.

They could have combined 1-3 together and released this in 4 1.5 hr episodes (a la Sherlock).
The payoff in Episode 3 is worth the slow build in 1 & 2.

Or they make the episodes knowing they’ll do a double release and they can get a lot of expositional stuff done with the first drop.
It’s pretty clear to me that this is exactly what they did. The first 3 episodes are basically a prologue. You can tell it’s all building to the end of episode 3, which feels much more like a true “ending” than the others.
The biggest tell is the way that the flashbacks converge with the present day at the end of the third episode, along with the way that ending is scored. Zero chance they didn’t know all three episodes were going to drop at once when they wrote them.

What?
I have no idea what was “woke” about that scene. Sounds like you’re looking for a reason to be upset.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series so far, especially Ep.3.
Looks like the world of Star Wars, but feels like a dirty political thriller like Syriana or something. Very serious (& fresh) for a SW series. I like your comp to the vibe of the IRA resistance.
And the CGI/VFX is almost Rogue One quality. My OLED tv exposes poor graphics, and outside of one shot of a crane with computer-generated construction workers riding a steel beam, the graphics have been indistinguishable from practical props & locations, even tho your brain knows the other-worldly-ness has to be CGI.

The Empire has been known to exploit planets like they did with Geonosis where they enslaved the people to help build the Death Star while hiding and when it was moved poisoned all the people, with the exception of one, to hide what they were doing and than declared some disaster to prohibit others from visiting. Even when he was saved the two were wearing mask as they beleived the story as well that the planet had some major accident but apparently it did not which I assume we will find out later.
My guess is the adults of those kids were enslaved as well and were forced to mine for the Empire. Now the Empire is trying to hide it by making the planet off limits with a lie.

Watched 1-3 last night because of another thread. The 3 worst episodes of TV I have ever watched in my life. Just google "andor is slow" and you will get where I am coming from.

Episode 3 isn’t slow
I’ve literally just told people to watch the first 10 minutes of Episode 1, google a picture of Binx, and then skip to episode 3.

Kenobi
Boba Fett
Andor
Sounds like she/they want some light fun action, nothing bleak, and known characters from the films if possible.
That's fine to like that aspect of Star Wars, and it's very definitely not what this show is.
Mando gets great reviews because it appeals across lines; you get the "aw, look at Baby Yoda! He's so cute!" crowd.
You get the Man With No Name in space angle of Mando himself.
You get the occasional big cameos- Asoka, Boba Fett, then obviously Luke in the finale.
This looks to be a different vein, a bleak situation of oppression where the protagonist goes from being a petty criminal on the fringes, to joining a terrorist movement (and let's go ahead and be clear on it, the Rebel Movement absolutely was that, before it got to the point of a hot war against the Imperial Military).
That may not be for everyone.

Just changed the title to “Season Thread”
Bump for Episode 4. About to start it soon.

Sure but there is a massive gulf between "this isn't for me" vs "the worst thing I've ever watched".
There is no way that is true for this show unless they have only ever seen 5 or 6 shows that were all A+++ tier.

Been thinking all week since episode 1-3 that the whole downfall of the empire could be pinned on an overzealous employee who can't follow his boss' directions.

Just finished Episode 4….
Not going to spoil it; but, will say that I’m really liking the fact that they are taking the time to introduce all the relevant players. You finish Episode 4 knowing the landscape and the upcoming mission. Excited for Episode 5.

I just finished it as well, and I really enjoyed it! It's a slow build right now, but I'm sure the payoff is gonna be great.

Liked it as well and liked the little hint about how far the series might go in time of Andor.
