No, but I've sat thru some monsoons in Tiger Stadium;
Miami
Fl State
MS State
Bama
I'm sure there were others but these were some heavy rains !

Read it years ago. To me, he comes off as kind of a cry baby.

I liked the book and think it is obviously a must read for Tigers fans. However, I think the tone of the book is different from your typical football war stories.

I read it, good book, but not the best thing I have ever read. It gives a perspective that we never think about in regards to what happens the day after most football players hand in their pads.

It’s a decent read. If it wasn’t about LSU I’m not sure I would have finished it.

Poignant, at times poetic.
"Everyone else will travel a similar course of human experience, but we are different. We play football for LSU."
I made a video starting with a quote that I thought was one of J.E.B.'s, and I actually reached out to him on facebook to confirm that they were his words:
"Tiger Stadium is haunted, and all the ghosts favor the home team."
It'd been awhile since I'd read the book, and I couldn't remember where I'd seen the quote. Not only did he respond, but he was so excited that I'd contacted him and gladly endorsed me including the quote. Cool moment.

I’ve read it a couple times through. Good for the softer human side, not great in the sense he never really took you into the experience of traveling, the stadiums, etc as a football player. You get the dedication and the sacrifice part for sure. I own two copies and would recommend any LSU fan have one.

It is very good but it is the story of a college / pro athlete surrounded by brothers and the void that occurs with retirement - Read Henry V instead…
And yes I read them both.

Great book, did an English project on it my freshman year of high school

It's really good.
It also ages pretty well, as some of the issues described there persist. The Best There Ever Was is also worth reading.
I've known John Ed since before he played for LSU. He is a good guy, like his daddy was.

I read it, he seems like a strange, depressed guy at the time he was writing the book, I didn't think it was so great

I got tired of his whining half way through book

It’s a really good book. Might not be exactly what you expect. It takes you through the darker times he experienced. My dad was the quarterback at OHS when John Ed was there and they were extremely close as were our families. He actually gave my grandfather, my dad, my brothers, and me signed copies of the book. My dad said after reading the book and knowing John Ed and what he went through after LSU, it doesn’t really even begin to scrape the surface of how bad off he was. Said he essentially turned into a hermit. He would go visit John head at his parents house and he just wasn’t the same as before. He kind of equated it to Brooks after he left Shawshank.

It rained against Oregon St one year so hard for 10 to 15 minutes. It made up for all those times It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium.

He came off very whiney to me. It was almost as if he wanted me to feel bad for him that he played CFB at LSU and then had enter the real world.
Not a bad read, but there was a lot of pussyass-ness to it.
