Downtown Laurel, Mississippi.
That cute short hair blonde from Laurel on Hometown HGTV could get it. Love me some short hair blondes with Mississippi accents.

Most of the previously named places are far too large, upscale and modernized to be Mayberry. Carrollton, MS is likely the closest in size, economy, busy bodies and literally nothing has changed in 50 years. I haven't been to Pontotoc, MS in 25 years, but it was close to Mayberry back then.

Honestly, Alabama has a few areas:
Fairhope, AL
Homewood, AL
Mountain Brook, AL
Franklin, TN is a good mention as well; although it is getting too big and congested imo.

In reality Bryson City, NC or Waynesville, NC are more Mayberry like than Mt. Airy.

Mountain brook is nice but it’s a suburb so not sure it qualifies

It's one of the prettiest SUBURBS in the South, but that's what it is, a ritzy suburb, not a Mayberry small town.

Lawrenceburg, TN
Anyone who's been there will know what I mean.
EDIT: LOL @ Franklin. Franklin is freaking huge (and full of Yankees), it ain't nothing like Mayberry. Sure, it's a good town and pretty wealthy, but it ain't really the south at all anymore.
