quote:

Of note: George signed Dorrell, an NFL position coach at the time whose only head coaching experience was a 35-27 stint at UCLA that ended in 2007, to a 5-year, $18 million contract. Even worse, if CU were to terminate him before the end of the calendar year, his buyout is equal to 100 percent of the remaining contract.

Upon conclusion of the regular season, Dorrell will be owed $7.8 million for the 2023 and '24 seasons, the final two years remaining on the contract. Dorrell's contract is, essentially, fully guaranteed. (A previous version of this article incorrectly listed Dorrell's buyout at $5 million.) The contract states he would be owed his full '23 and '24 salary if released in the 2023 calendar year and, if fired before that, he would be owed his '23 and '24 salaries plus whatever is left from his 2022 salary.

Karl Dorrell had to be one of the most uninspiring hires ever

That program is headed for a Kansas type depression.

Wild how far that program has fallen. Them and Nebraska was a fun series in the 90's

Their move to the pac 12 coupled with a series of questionable coaching hires has put them in a seriously bad spot. Nebraska sucks but at least they are losing close games and actually look they like belong on the field most games. Colorado just looks pitiful.

The Big 12 should take Colorado back.

No reason they shouldn't be able to be good. Beautiful campus.

They hired him because he coached with McCartney hoping that somehow he could recapture the magic.

Colorado beat NU both times they played in ‘18 and ‘19 and have won 10 games far more recently than NU. They only hired Dorrell b/c Mel Tucker left in the middle of the night two weeks into February just a couple hours after a booster event where he told them he was in it for the long haul. I don’t think KD would have even been considered if they had the time for a real coaching search.

They are down right now w/Dorrell but that’s on him being so wishy washy. He still hasn’t even picked a starting QB 3 games in. It’s almost like he wants to be fired.

Word salad. Cliffs: We suck, please keep buying tickets.

And holy moly there was a lot of copy/pasta in there from SJW shite: "I hear you. I recognize and understand your disappointment/frustration/anger. Now, more than ever."

That's more than fair. They made a couple of good head coaching hires. Mel Tucker leaving after a cup of coffee was just brutal and unforgiving. With the mercenary spirit of some of these coaches, Colorado is going to struggle to keep the right guy even when they found them. Mel Tucker was just wrong to leave after one season.

That message is a sign of impending unemployment. I feel like George wants to build a winner, but is just gutted by the university and basically told to hire specific types of hires, not who he wants to hire.

hard to blame him for taking the money. Colorado is not committed to spending what it takes in big time cfb.

how many times do you idiots have to be told, they DONT want to be in the big12.

They want to be with all of the Liberal colleges in the pac12. They ALWAYS made it known, even back into the 80's, that they did not like being in a conference with hayseeds.

Their students, administration, and fanbase think they are above a big8/big12 and always felt this way.

They were already in a bad spot before joining the Pac. The administration and fanbase don't care enough about CFB.
