If you watch him closely, he pumps to throw sometimes and doesn’t, that’s not trusting what he sees and not wanting to make a mistake. It limits your opportunities and your overall offensive performance, which condenses what you can do on offense.

I’m looking forward to seeing this team improve.

Everyone else improves too.

I regret that I only have one upvote to give.

Special teams need to be fixed. Some of these problems are so basic its hard to fathom how they are even happening in the first place.

Totally agree about Daniels. I'm hoping the staff over time find things he's very comfortable with in terms of reads and continues to build towards those. I would also hope they start doing some drills to try and get him to throw rather than run in certain situations, or at least to have his eyes up field looking for WR.

This coaching staff has shown they can make really good halftime adjustments, etc. Which is very refreshing.

Move Howard to QB2, burn the redshirt. Work him in a few games. Coach him up. He is the future - JD and Nuss are not.

You mean the guy who led the team in catches last year?

With as much experience as he has had, Daniels is what he is-a QB with poor vision and below-average accuracy. He will not scramble LSU to anything like an SEC title.

Sorry, but it's the truth. If he cannot see it by now, he is not going to see it...ever.

Good OP but I would add that once teams focus on shutting down Daniels running, we’re in massive trouble.

His 2nd and 3rd options won’t be there either as he’s not mentally quick enough to make those proper reads.

Strength and conditioning and half time adjustments…is this LSU I’m watching? Loved seeing this. We outright bullied a pretty solid front 7 in the fourth quarter. And House outcoached the Pirate. Not a long list of DC’s that can say that. And the defense was flying to the ball and delivered big hits and solid tackles when they got there. Again, such a change from the near disinterested play we saw for the past two years. Like the Tiger defenses we used to see. And we are still playing with a short roster. Bright future here.

The special teams are hot garbage. Bring McMahon back and make Poulian recruiting coordinator. He is evidently VERY good at that. Our kicker has no loft on his kicks, we will get more blocked before the season is out. The only ST highlight of the night (conceding he made all his PAT’s) was watching a 350# OT making a tackle on a speedy punt returner in space. The announcers were blown away.

JD’s faults have been well described, but clearly, if he can’t hit our star receivers running wide open down the field, we will lose some games we should have won.

I wonder if his 10 INTs last year has him gunshy

He definitely appears to be gunshy.

That one really low throw to Boutte near the sidelines, after which BK was yelling at him to get it higher is a good example of a QB trying to avoid interceptions, IMO as opposed to trying to make completions.

Daniels is what he is and will not be anything else. The Kid is in his 4th year and has 30+ starts. He is not going to wake tomorrow and be an efficient pocket passer that can read the D and go through progressions. It is simply not going to happen! However he is an outstanding athlete with a ton of heart that will give it everything he has. Let him be what he is and do what he can do! Go Up Tempo, Play Fast, use RPO, and read options and let him be the type of QB that he is.

Daniels athleticism is unparalleled. He can turn a busted play into a 9 yard gain with his legs and out run corners to the edge. With that said - his lack of pocket presence, poor mechanics and piss poor field vision are going to cost us some games.

At times he created the busted play. The line came together as the game went on and was blocking really well. There were times that he took off at the first sign of a blitz even though the OLine picked it up. He needs to come together with his line and trust them

Pretty nice takeaway. Daniels will never succeed in this conference. He is as inaccurate as it gets and cannot complete much down field. A lot of pass plays called for so few yards attained. Can't blame O-line last night for his piss poor passing and inability to find wide open guys.

Bech had a stress fracture not shin splints

He needs to take Taylor’s place on passing downs

Agree with all this. Interesting that no one is talking about the CBs. That was a big area of concern and the silence shows how well they have done.

There isn’t a team on the schedule except bama who has someone athletic enough to spy Daniels and stop him

So they have to play zone and as we saw in the 2nd half if Denbrock calls short quick passes then we can move the ball

Polians thought process and coaching just makes zero sense

We kickoff for 3 quarters out the back of the end zone then God knows what reason decide to squib which led to a TD that was overturned then squibbed again that went out of bounds giving state good field position.
