Exon Mobile alone can triple the size of BRPD and pay them all six figures and still be getting a great deal from this state, as they pay very little in taxes.

Wtf. I would say it's hard to understand people like you exist but it's not hard anymore.

BR is a shithole run by democrats who don't give a frick about doing anything to stop crime... but the solution is to tax businesses to give BRPD six-figure salaries??

So let's pay the cops more and still end up with a system that let's criminals back onto the streets.

Makes perfect sense. Now you're running off business from a place that already does a fantastic job of running off businesses... and still end up with the same criminal element doing whatever the frick they want.

They pay about $10M in property taxes, on a property worth $2.2B. Only about $700M worth of that $2.2B property is taxable. This state exempts the rest. For comparison, Baytown Tx, Exxon has a property worth $2.8B and pays $48M in taxes.

Property taxes higher in texas because no income tax

Okay fair enough, some of my comments came across poorly. My main point is that these companies play a role in getting people elected. They can also play a role in getting people out of office if pressure is put on them. I doubt they had a desire to get involved and make statements about BLM, but they did, due to external pressure. They can be pressured into doing similar in this case. Thats my main point.

As what should have been merely a side note, I threw in that we, the state of Louisiana, give them, and others way too much of a break.

What needs to happen from an outside the box standpoint is that a hundred people need to show up and disrupt the entrance to places like Exxon Mobile, Shaw, OLOL, etc and put THEM under pressure.

For what? This is one of the dumber ideas in this entire thread, good grief.

You’d think, but this is the type of crap BLM does, and it gets traction and media coverage.

watch this for explanation of just how exceptional Louisiana is at granting tax exemptions in comparison to other states. It's a total outlier and corrupted mechanism that enables it.

Why Louisiana Stays Poor (among other reasons of course)

This may indeed be a part of it. But we exempt 67% of their property value. Tx exempts 9% of the Baytown site. And this isnt only about Exxon. It's pretty much every major corporation we have in this state.

Last I plan to say on the matter because it distracts from the intended topic. It was mentioned as an outside the box method of getting help with a problem.

A good way to stay poor is putting a high tax on businesses

louisiana is poor because it has been a shite business environment for 50 years

Plus has the largest state government bureaucracy in the country per capita, larger than NY and CA

oh this damn video again.

If you want to see what Louisiana looks like without the petrochemical industry, take a look at Mississippi.

the state spent the last century running off every white collar job producer while Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta grew exceptionally New Orleans has shriveled

Maybe on a national level with higher ups taking a side... but locally, these plant managers aren't going to go public with a political message. That's way outside their pay grade.

State and local government tend to be a jobs program for everyone’s drunken brother in law.

State agencies, parish and city agencies, parish schools, state boards with crack whores as the chair…

We already have a massively bloated state government but if they only had more tax revenue to work with everything would be better

Of course more boots on the ground patrolling would make a difference, however it’s the SWB and MP administration that’s the cancer. Whenever Hillar retires from the DA office he’ll be replaced by a woke, activist DA that will be substantially worse. Violent criminals will be let out on minimal bail and more innocent lives will be lost to the tPOS element of BR.

Exactly. They're not going to risk their career by speaking out on local crime.

Major corporations have written policies regarding speaking to the media and what they are allowed and not allowed to say.

It wouldn't matter anyway. Do you think SWB or BRPD give a shite what ExxonMobil or OLOL think?

Back on topic here… has Kiran Chawla posted any updates? She’s really our only hope when it comes to the local media.
