Looking for Denver area advice

Looking to take wife on a 3 night trip out of New Orleans(11/3-11/6) - preferably direct flight. Denver was recommended and have never been to that area before. I was looking at Aspen but that looks like its about a 4 hour drive.
We don't drink/party but like to walk around towns and sightsee.
Trying to stay under 2k

Everything is a drive out here. Don’t let a few hours in the car driving through the mountains concern you. The beginning of Nov could be iffy. Things will start opening back up after shoulder season but some things still may be closed before winter season. Take a ride to Vail, Aspen, Crested Butte, wherever. It won’t suck. Just be flexible depending on the weather; 4 hrs could be 4hrs or 4ever if it snows.
Denver is Denver. Not bad but nothing you haven’t seen before if you traveled a bit.

Great recommendations. I love the Cherry Creek area. Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is also interesting if time permits and Boulder is fun to walk around and grab a bite to eat or have coffee.

Stay in Breck. Nice main street...lots of restaurants. Tour Frisco. Shops in Silverthorne for your wife. Day trip to walk Vail

I second Breck. 90 minutes from Denver and a great town to sightsee/eat

That’s a bummer you don’t drink because they have some of the best breweries in the country
I would try to check out a show at red rocks, go to Colorado Springs or Breckenridge

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have been looking at Breck and it looks like that area checks all of the boxes!

You’ll likely see snow. Rent an AWD vehicle or use a shuttle service.

Thats not a bad time to stay in a ski resort town, since the season wont have started just yet. Breck or really anything in Summit County would be good for you.

I hadn’t given it much thought before I went out there and since I don’t ever see homeless people lined up everywhere, it was startling at how much homelessness there was in Denver.

If you wanted to go north, Fort Collins is a cool area. You’re on the front range and can spend a few hours in Rocky Mountain National Park (that late some roads may be closed).
Others have recommended Breck and it’s also a fantastic town. On the way there, stop near Dillon Dam. Enjoy the lake views around Silverthorne/ Frisco.
If you go to Breck and we’re ever a fan of South Park, you can drive down and see FairPlay.
Really hard to go wrong in that part of the world. Get out of Denver quick as the surrounding areas are the real destination.

Estes Park is nice. Lack of area skiing pushes down rental prices during ski season. Its 1.5 hours from Denver. They also have a shuttle for $110/head roundtrip.
YMCA of the Rockies has a 2 bedroom cabin for $184 a night. $600 total after fees for those dates. Rental car is about $400 after tax. That gives you $1000 for flights and spending money.
