My brother lived in Leadville, and I loved visiting there.
It looks like this would be a good day trip for us.
The train looks like it could be a good way to see some of the area and mountains.
It also looks like some of the old mines around there could be a fun thing to go see.

We just had use previous travel credit and are heading to Denver July 22-26(wed-sun)
It will be my me and my wife and 3 boys(20,17,13)
We went to Breckenridge 2 summers ago for our 1st trip to Colorado and loved it. The last trip also included some time in Estes Park and RMNP but Breck was our favorite.
We enjoyed the easy hikes and downtown areas.
We have no problems heading back there, but want to see if there are other recommendations around that area that would be worth looking into.

We use Gulf Coast Bank for multiple small businesses and personal accounts. They have been great to work with.

update:
external fuel tank with new fuel and it starts up similar to previously.
when it came on had an alarm for low oil.
i have an engine mounted oil tank with an override switch. The oil was right at/below low line, but the override switch does not work to fill it. I added some oil manually and got the warnings/alarm to stop.
I know the mechanic noticed a part on a small linkage to the oil injection pump was broken and he repaired that. No clue how long that has been broken.
So now i'm leaning to some issue with the oil system???
I can keep engine idling as long as i keep pushing key/choke in

Engines that wont accept load usually have a fuel problem
Is this something that most outboard mechanics would be able to determine?
My guy cleaned the carbs and has now basically said he can't do anything else to help me. It runs five when its at his shop...my problem that it wont run in the water?

What are your rpms on ears? Did you do basic compression check?
Not sure how to run a compression test. Mechanically inclined somewhat, but not outboard engine smart!
I can rev up and down on ears without a problem, as soon as it goes into neutral it stalls out.
I was able to get it to run at low speed in lake last week, but as soon as I would give it throttle it would bog down.
He changed the fuel ball with a new one, this one seems pretty flimsy but the last one was 20 years old and rock solid and hard to squeeze at all!

Have a 2003 yamaha 115 2 stroke
the last two years it has only been run 1-2 times each summer, but all i had to do was put a new battery in and it would crank right up and run fine. I put 93 octane fuel in it and a can of seafoam 2 years ago.
Jump to this summer and same thing as always...new battery and it would crank right up. Brought it to the lake to run and whenever I would give it some throttle it would just bog down and die.
Brought it to local outboard mechanic in Mandeville and he cleaned the carbs and had it running great out of water, went and put in in the water and the same thing. No idle and it just bogs down and dies. I was able to keep it alive by pushing the key(choke) but that was it.
Called the mechanic, he looked and ran it out of water and once again, no problems except would stall out on idle(not new with this one) and that was as much as he would be able to help me.
So my son and I drained the fuel tank, put new non ethanol fuel in and an enzyme treatment last weekend. Boat ran in driveway, put in water and the same thing.
This weekend, we took off the fuel filter and it had a bunch of gunk in it. We bought a new one and got started in driveway and it sounded great...thought we had it!
Put in the lake a little while ago and could not even get it to stay on.
Any ideas on what the difference between on ears and in water could be?
We have a pee stream and nothing out of the ordinary???
In Mandeville area if anyone has mechanic recommendations

Following!
We are going the 2nd week in July. Staying at Whitefish Ski Resort Sunday to Friday.
We were considering a day trip into Canada(never been) for a visit to a small town the Tuesday or Wednesday we are there.
Also planning a trip to Polebridge.
The last 3 summers we have been to Tetons, Zion and Rocky Mtn NP so looking forward to another NP under the belt!
Hope y'all have a great trip.

Thinking about the quick trip into Canada on Tuesday if we do it.
Other than passports would we need anything to take our rental car on a one day adventure?!

So we locked in July 6-11 at Whitefish Resort
Looking at things to do...and we have never been to Canada, would it be worth the 2-3 hour drive for a few hours in Canada and see a few sights, towns, mountains etc...Looks like we can get to a few small Canadian towns or see a few lakes/trails.
I have never driven across a border before so not sure how that works and if its worth dealing with for a little while in Canada

re: Planning an early July trip out of New Orleans

Thanks for the information!
We do not fly that often and when we do its always a direct flight and typically southwest!
I would prefer not to pay extra for seats and assume that we will be towards the back, but willing to pay if we have to help make the connection.
Hoping we can at least get 2 seats next to each other for my wife and youngest son.

My main concern is the layover times. Main two options we are looking at have layovers in Dallas(American) or Denver(United) and are each 1:05
Are either of these doable?
We will probably be towards the back of the arriving plane

Do you think the trails around the ski resort would be walkable in June?
We are not extreme hikers, just like to go out for some light trail walks!

Renting a VRBO in Whitefish Ski Village
We made our 1st trip to Estes Park/Breckenridge last summer and loved it. This looked like a similar type trip so we picked the resort with all of the trails right out the door to go walking and exploring.

We looked at Denver but that's only a 50 minute window!
We like leaving early so there are not a ton of choices.
