When I was younger, I used to think that we could reason with people and if you made logical sound arguments, people would eventually see the light.

I no longer feel remotely that way regarding the modern progressive left.

She absolutely eviscerated Dr. Phil's argument about when life begins.

"If life does not begin at fertilization, then why do you have to kill the embryo?"

I was thinking the exact same thing to myself when I heard him say that.

Everyone has a religion, whether they realize it or not.

In an age of declining Christian influence, the popularity of unchecked "progressivism" establishing itself as an orthodox religious belief system actually makes a lot of sense to me.

The primary tenet of orthodox progressivism is the indulgence of our base animal instincts.

Eat whatever you want. Eat all day. Whatever you can get your hands on. Be fat. Fat is beautiful.

Sex is empowering. Screw anything and everything you want. Screw anything that moves. Or doesn't move. It's up to you.

Hardship and work is bad and evil. Therefore, if you don't have something you want, it must be someone else's fault, and not because you just haven't worked hard enough for it. Work is hard and requires burning vital energy. Be lazy.

It's no wonder that it's an attractive belief system, especially for younger people who have no families to be responsible for.

I no longer feel remotely that way regarding the modern progressive left.

I mean, they can't even acknowledge the very basic elementary biology that says XY chromosomes = male, and XX chromosomes = female.

Instead, you know, the wishcasting of the person determines man and woman.

I've always considered constantly interrupting someone to be a sign of insecurity, as if they are afraid of what the other party is saying so they want to try to distract the other party from making a point they don't have a good response against.

No one is neutral. We all have a worldview that colors how we interpret the world around us, including the factual data that is presented to us.

I like Dr. Phil. He has a certain, old school, folksy wisdom that is entertaining in a lot of contexts.

On a hard scientific question, I would trust Bill Nye the (not a) Science Guy more and that isn't any.

On the other hand, ole girl (and I know she was probably outnumbered 200 to 1) was very rude and offputting.

OF COURSE life begins at fertilization/conception. It can't begin anywhere else in the timeline. Before that, the unique characteristics don't exist and after that, if all goes well, that will be the fully formed human being created at fertilization. If we were talking about literally any other mammal - beagles, muskrat, alpaca, it would be silly to suggest any other point.

But, we have to play these games with brainwaves and heartbeats and "viability" in order to justify murdering the literally most innocent human beings at the whim and caprice of the mother. The barbarism has to have justification. All the pseudoscientific mumbo-jumbo is just that.
