Honestly at this point in internet meme culture, if you haven’t figured out that this is the worst possible way to get people to stop making fun of you, then you deserve everything that’s coming your way

I’m curious as to how they can make a claim? Are these events not open to the public?

Well regardless of their validity, the way these claims work is they get taken down the second it gets reported, then after review they’ll lift the ban if they find it’s not validated

So regardless of it actually violates anything, they can just make the claim to get it taken down for a few days to try to lower the heat or pressure them to delete the post entirely to avoid a strike (which most social sites give you like 3 strikes until a permaban)

It’s a real scummy corporate PR move

They still have it up on their official accounts so I think this is them trying to keep others from making money off of it instead of them.

Twitter doesn’t have a pay out feature like others so hard to say this would effect their bottom line in anyway, outside of the PR hit

Certainly Barstool and others can make money off of the video based on the views to their site and ad revenue that’s tied to that, but hard to imagine a scenario where Texas A&M is profiting in the same way from that content, so at the end of the day it’s just kind of a petty move to try to get the internet from making fun of you.

Everything I see from A&M seems like a Christopher Guest movie. I just can't believe it's not satire.

yeah, true, and I would expect parody or satire is still fair game, right?

Yeah fair use would for sure cover this, which is kind of the shitty thing about these claims because companies put them on everything knowing that they aren’t valid claims but either want to bury it for a few days or threaten legal action to the poster to try to get them to take it down

I watched parts of the video, and I still don't think it's real.
