Is the yearly Gold Game just another casualty of Covid?

There hasn’t been one since ‘19 Auburn (more than half the stadium was in rain jackets that day). I know people don’t like “being told” what to wear, but I think we can all agree when done right this always looked awesome.

I'm honestly surprised we don't see the gold shakers anymore. I know a lot of folks are too cool for them, but it looks amazing.

Isn't Moo State usually the gold game?

Color coordinated games work well at other schools...not LSU. Even on "gold game" days you still don't see the monolithic wearing of a single color by the fans like you might see at places such as Penn State and others.

Stop trying to make the Gold Game happen...

When was it done right?

"Color out games are a Big 10 gimmick. Leave it to Penn State. I've worn the same 2004 Sugar Bowl shirt to every game I've attended over the last 16 seasons and I'm 4-1 over that stretch. You think I'm gonna let some stuffy suits tell me not to wear my lucky shirt! Bygod they can kiss my arse!"

I never understood why coordinating colors for one game absolutely angers people in this fanbase.

Might just be coincidence, but isn't the Gold Game usually a confirmed 2:30pm game?

I believe it's an anniversary event for one of the national championship teams. T-Bob made a mention about signing up on Twitter to former players. The Cowbells generally wear some Adidas alternative uniform against us.

Pretty sure it was always the first SEC game.

More a casualty of the apathetic, "way too cool" LSU fans.

Why do we all need to dress the same? As long as it has some LSU logo or some indication of rooting for LSU, what difference does it make who wears what color in the stands?

If you want people to wear a certain color, give them a free shirt in that color. Otherwise, let these things happen organically or not at all.

Because it looks better on TV. I'm a fan of it.

2019 the first home conference game was Auburn but that was the "Homecoming Game" so maybe it took precedent over the following Florida "Gold Game"?

But yes, looks like first home SEC game is what it's supposed to be.

Also, agreed. The university should be supplying gold shirts to make the actual name of the game a tiny bit more meaningful.

It was 2003 against Auburn that we had gold shakers for the whole stadium. That was the last time. If you can find the video of that game you can see what an amazing sight it was and how loud it was. Same thing for the 2012 and 2014 Bama games with the gold towels. Deafening. Michigan turned their dead 100,000 into the second best atmosphere game in college football giving out 100,000 yellow shakers for two games a year. Penn St’s white out is the best atmosphere with 100,000 white shakers for one game a year. LSU could have a great gold game and if marketing and promotion gave out gold shakers or towels, it would not matter that some people insist on wearing purple. But M&P does nothing at all for men’s sports at LSU as far as game atmosphere

I’m not talking about the uniforms, boomer. But while I’m here, we should wear the ‘58 helmets (numbers on the side, gray face masks) once a year like we did for 2018 Ole Miss.
