Pilsner Urquell is the gold standard. I prefer Czech style pils versus German style ones, because the Saaz hops tend to shine more.

Paulaner, Veltins, Einbecker, Bitburger, and Konig all make great German pils that are relatively available across the US, including Louisiana and the gulf coast.

I was only able to find this while living in NJ years ago, but Rothaus Tannenzapfle Pils is a top 5 best beer ever tasted for me.

Local: Wiseacre Italian Pilsner
Import: The GOAT, Pilsner Urquel. Sometimes you get lucky and find fresh, unfiltered kegs around and it's like drinking nectar from the gods.
