Did anyone know about a Dow rail car accident not too long ago. Was getting blood work done for life insurance and the nurse and I spoke about all kinds of stuff. She talked about a funeral she had went to recently for her daughters brother in law something. Evidently he went to block the rail car wheel and it shifted backwards while he was bent over and ran on top of him. The only thing that kept him alive was the pressure of the train on top of him. He called all his family while stuck to tell them he loved them. They got him out and put in an ambulance to from plaquemine to Baton Rouge instead of flying him out. Dude had a 2 month old. Seems like Dow and the rail company have let this hush hush.

Most probably a Watco employee. They handle rail operations on site.

Being pinned and staying alive isn't something new, but it's sort of an extreme anomaly. Prayers to everyone involved.

Happened to Mel Gibson's wife in Signs. That's all I have.

Yes I was working about 100 yards away. Not sure if the whole "calling the family" story is true or not. I've heard that story multiple over the years so I'm never sure if its a myth or not. 24 year old guy. I thought he slipped.

Yep. Have heard this story for 25 years at least. Happened at BASF the first time I heard it.

Yea idk how true the calling of family is but either way it’s crazy how quiet Dow has kept it. Said they haven’t even discussed it with workers, safety meetings, etc….from what I was told.

Man that’s awful. I had to call my kids and tell them I love them after reading that. Breaks my heart.

Happens so often it’s become an urban legend?

Well, it was a contractor for one.

Sounds like he broke a safety rule.

Companies don't harp on deaths like people think. It tends to frick the workers minds up rather than make them think clearer.

Can we ban people who post a wall of text?

I don’t know if he called his family but I do know he was cognizant enough to be talking before they moved the train.

I didn’t hear if any rules he broke, his FRC got caught and he was dragged down.

Seems like Old Tiger would have the best info since he was there.

Wall of text guy you can kma. I’m rocking my kid and don’t have two hands. Not everyone is sitting in their parents basement in front of their computer, drinking cola, and eating cheese puffs.

Think it is one of those plant tales that maybe get brought up as a sort of warning to how dangerous things can be.

Not so much the port-a-potty with a girl giving turnaround BJs urban legend, but similar in that everyone knows it happened because they want to retell the story.

Some variation of this story happened years ago supposedly. Rail car shifts and impales the guy. He is able to talk to his wife before dying.

At this point I heard it so many times about Dow I figure it's west side urban legend.
