At other SEC campuses on gameday, they seem to showcase their student unions. Alums like the nostalgia of returning there, and it's a glimpse at the school for visitors and prospective students. I love LSU and loved my years at the University, but I recognize it less each year.

Other SEC campuses don't have embarrassingly ugly and lame student unions.

Also, no they don't. People at Bama or Ole Miss or Tennessee don't proudly hang out at the union on gameday.

I have never heard of an incident in the Union on game day (I have spent a lot of days in the Student Union on game day), but if there is that possibility --why would you not have the same possibility at the PAC?

As someone who used to work in the union...this probably has more to do with cutting costs then "incidents". Probably felt like with the "costs" associated with opening the union, hiring 3rd party security, having all of the food vendors present, cleaning the bathrooms, not having clean bathrooms, running out riff raft, etc...there's a point where the cost outweigh the benefit.

RIP third floor union bathrooms. Always a must stop after breakfast before that place got too busy.

This is another example of punishing the wrong people. The LSU police should maintain a presence at the union on game days to arrest and book problem people until the problem is solved. Why close the union to law abiding fans and students? It’s the trouble makers who should suffer not law abiding citizens.

Am I supposed to be thankful for that? I don’t want to be next to the stadium 5 hours before kickoff I want to be in the middle of campus.

This is for all games not just Southern. Student Union is no longer open on LSU football gamedays.
