What Movies Do You Think Were Great But Didn't Get Recognition Deserved?

What movies do you think were vastly underrated by critics and the awards bodies? (Oscars, etc.) at the time they were released? And not just critics, but films that might have flopped or underperformed with the public as well.
The only rule I have is
1) The movie needs to have been a box office release and not indie (not that there's anything wrong with indie films, but by their very nature they often fly under the radar).
My nomination is the film "Heat" (1995) directed by Michael Mann. It starred Pacino, DeNiro, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, and Ashley Judd. It even had Wes Studi and Jon Voight in it.
Even though it was more of a crime drama and not an action movie, the shootout scenes were some of the very best ever done in Hollywood. In fact, it was so good that Police departments actually use the shootout scenes for training. And the British military shows the shootout scene to their troops during infantry training. In my opinion it was the greatest shootout scene in film history (up to that time). It was realistic in tactics, the shooting was realistic and even the sound was realistic.
"Heat" did not flop, but considering its all-star cast, it was not a success either. It's opening weekend it did pretty well at #3. But it finished the 1995 year being the #25 grossing film. It won no awards and wasn't nominated for any. It did receive some positive reviews from professional critics at the time, but nothing notable.
Does anyone else agree that "Heat" was underrated?

Pain & Gain
Hilarious and dark, comparable to Very Bad Things in tone. Coked out Rock had me dying

Mad Max Fury Road...should have won both Best Picture and Best Director but the academy is full of shite. It won 6 Oscars and it still wasn't enough. Top 3 film for 2010s
ETA:
Dredd (2012)

Legion, the movie. I didn’t expect awards but so much potential for a prequel and sequel.

Nacho libre should have won at least 5 oscars but it’s more about politics than good film making

Haven't seen it since it came out but one of the most strangest, startling, disturbing movies I had seen up until that point.

Most people see Viggo Mortensen and think of LOTR, I always think of The Reflecting Skin and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 lol

Tombstone
Val should have been nominated for best supporting actor.

I've trumpeted this movie many times before in the horror thread...
But when it comes to J-Horror, The Ring, The Grudge, etc. gets all the love.
Watch Kairo (Pulse) in a room at midnight in the dark. The Japanese version.
Its internet ghosts! YouTube trailer. Seriously, it's the scariest film I've ever seen because you don't know what's going on but the atmosphere is creepier than anything I've ever seen.

Bringing Out the Dead.
I think it's one of Scorcese's and Cage's best.

Not only should it have won Best Picture that year, but it wasn’t even nominated for it. What a joke.
It’s too bad it didn’t do well at the box office as well since I do want to see the war between humans and replicants that the film heavily implies is about to begin. Hopefully Dune Part 2 crushes it at the box office and will give Villeneuve another shot at it. Really the only characters you need to bring back are Wallace and Ana Stelline.
The sad thing is if they got Christopher Nolan to direct it, which was the studio’s first choice, it probably would have grossed three times the amount it did.
