2013 he probably lost us that game but the coaches still had faith in him
I think Nabors is a special talent and we along with the coaches should give him another chance
It was FIRST live game catching punts

Did he muff two punts in one game?

But, seriously, I don’t mind giving him an extra shot. Just think there needed to be a change because this will hurt Nabors confidence moving forward. I don’t think he will be as willing to take chances because he will be so focused on just catching the ball. Will probably see ALOT of fair catches. Plus Miss State will do everything possible to get in his head when the punt is fielded. The turnovers from muffed punts are that valuable.

He also had multiple kicks/punts returned for TDs in his career by that point as well. So yes, while that was a critical fumble in that game, there were enough great plays in his career as a return man to warrant having faith in him. Nabers literally fumbled the first TWO punts he ever attempted to field in a college game.

I think there is just a bit of a difference between the two scenarios

The kid will be just fine. It's the coach that needs to be taking all the heat, not the player. Bad coaching = poor execution.

good lord, nobody is saying that good punt returns never muff a punt. It happens - even to the best of them.

But Nabers muffed his only two chances, deep in our territory. Will he finish his career with no more muffs? Maybe.

But will the coaches give him the chance, since clearly it's in his head, and we can't risk any more muffs. Turnovers like that are usually fatal, and we just can't afford that.

Kid got caught up in the hoopla and lost his concentration. I know the coach didn't fumble the punt but should be on the hot seat for not getting him where he needed to be, alas head in the game. Who is our special teams coach? Is he under the DC or OC? Or is he directly under BK? Lot of mistakes all over the field ST wise.

Well by all means, lets make this guy the next Ronnie Lewis and do all we can to kill his confidence and have him transfer.

Good grief.

I was really hoping on the second one he muffed that he would just let it bounce and roll into the endzone. He was on about the 8 or so yrd line? Felt like a heels on the 10 and let it go type situation to me.

Thats also the kind of thing that comes from experience and reps so expecting a learning curve for sure.

Costs LSU that game plus he fumbled versus Florida. Landry was and is better than him.

If he does get another chance this weekend, I assume he will automatically call for a fair catch because he will be so focused on catching the ball. I bet the applause he gets from the crowd will be epic if he secures the catch

I was actually at both of those games. Both of those fumbles were brutal for us.
