I used this on my meatballs the other day and noticed it was on sweeter side. Is Monjunis sauce always little sweet?
What other store bought sauce do you guys like?

Yep. Monjunis is a sweet sauce.
Try Michael’s of Brooklyn or Dagostino’s. Or stop by Anthony’s and buy a quart of their sauce. (My favorite)

Yes, Monjuni’s sauce is sweet, and I personally like it.
If you prefer less sweet, Mandina’s Red Sauce is also very good…

It's definitely a noticeably sweet sauce. It has its place sometimes. I always notice when my wife makes lasagna with it and it's her best version.

Yeah, Monjuni's is sickening sweet. Not for me. My 2 go to store bought sauces are Michael’s of Brooklyn or Rao's.

I’ve been using Cajun Power
Next time I make spaghetti I plan to use a jar of Cajun Power & a jar of Monjunis to see how it comes out

Sal & Judy’s is pretty good.

Yes it's sweet and I love it. Just like my Sicilian great-grandma made.

Agreed. I make a sweet sauce that was my Sicilian grandmothers recipe and it is very close to Monjunis. Too sweet for some but Ive had no complaints.

I grew up on the sweet red gravy. I make no apologies for it, lol.

Red sauce should be sweet like my grandma made it

Disgustingly sweet, inedible.

A lot of good Sicilians in this thread

It’s sweet. I like to use Canatella’s red sauce. It’s freshly made and only about $6 for half a quart.

Very sweet. Last I looked, sugar was the second ingredient on the label after tomatoes. It has its place, but I find it cloying in most dishes.

Some great suggestions. Combo of Cajun Power and Monjunis sounds like a great option.

Some people like red maple syrup with their pasta, I prefer to counter the acidic tomatoes with red wine. The sweet sauces mute the herbal center of the sauce. I really can't understand how people can enjoy it.
