That included a loss to ULM. Gumps were calling for his head to roll. Y'all remember? I remember.

Many of y'all are no better than the gumps. You're just not patient or rational fans. At least allow the man to get a couple of recruiting classes into the program before relentlessly attacking him like rampaging retards with pitchforks.

We'll show signs of improvement this year, 2023 will be solid, and 2024 will be the year we're back competing for championships. Relax.

I could list you hundreds of coaches who started off poorly and didn’t go on to become the greatest coach of all time. Using Saban as the measuring stick of what Kelly will become makes no sense.

If we didn't have the transfer portal, I'd be on the same page. We hit that HARD though. Saban didn't have that option to replenish his roster.

My point is even "the greatest HC of all time" couldn't fix everything in one season, even at a program with as much potential as Alabama. Can you really not comprehend my point? Some of y'all are worse off than I thought. Geez...

I’m not a fan of your take. We had no choice but to go to the portal. And just because you can fill your roster doesn’t mean it’s the best way.

You still have guys who you have to break bad habits of.

Even with the transfer portal, teams need time to gel and get on the same page. The transfer portal will never be the answer to completely build a team. It's a stop gap. The key will always be building your program with high school recruits. Kelly even addressed this earlier on. The transfer portal was only necessary this season (maybe a little the next) because he inherited a dumpster fire!

People also forget that Bama was 10-2 and in a top bowl less than 15 months before Saban took over there.

He had a more stable situation then as well when he took over in 2007. Also, they were nowhere near as depleted as LSU is right now.

Had LSU fired O in 2020, you c ou le have had some quick turn around. Instead they gave him another year and it destroyed the program.

In the end, this loss hurts, but may be a good thing in the long run to motivate the team. Far better to lose to FSU than an SEC team. Threat still have complete control of their destiny.

Why are some of you acting like BK is some new unknown coach dude has been in the game for along time and has won everywhere he has coached.

Did Saban inherit a 39 player roster?

Transfer portal is great for filling a roster, but you're getting guys from McNeese, ULL, or lower level D1 programs for the most part. Ed O left the cupboard pretty damn bare.

Good work gathering this data. So all rational fans should at least give Kelly a year (honestly two) to fix this garbage.

This. It's laughable that people are trying to act like Kelly is an unknown commodity. He's done this before, successfully I might add, at every stop he has been at ad HC. Now somehow lsu "fans" can assess his worth after one game from a team made up of 50% transfers and freshmen.

I am so tired of seeing this take, and it’s one of the reasons I began actively posting. Saban’s 2007 Alabama team didn’t have a single player drafted. Not one. On the entire team. He took over a sanction riddled Shula program, and the only player he inherited on the entire roster that was drafted on the first day was Andre Smith, who was drafted the following year.

These two situations are not at all similar. BK has some work to do, but it’s a much easier rebuild than what Saban had, and we should EXPECT to see some serious improvements as the season progresses.

Saban went 12-2 in year two. I see no reason why BK can’t do the same or similar. Bama is our only road block to owning this division.

I wanted to post this, but was sure it was just a waste of energy dealing with the dipshits on here.

This program is in better hands than it’s been in the last 20 years.

As frustrating as last night was, it’s a process and it’s gonna be painful before it gets rolling.
