If they weren't faster and easier than doing it by hand, they wouldn't be in business.

Depends on the franchise owner, but Mister Car Wash does get a bad rap.

We have Toyotas and Hondas, so our paint was never that good to begin with.

While you aren’t wrong, let’s be honest and say that your average baw washing his wife’s telluride with some old kitchen rags and dawn is doing his fair share of damage.

They can’t be that bad.

They are pretty hard on the finish in general due to some pretty harsh chemicals especially on the front part of the tunnel.

If you want your car to look okay and don’t have any intention of doing a hand wash then your probably not going to care what it looks like in 4-5 years anyway.

If you care, then hand wash it using the two bucket method.

If I can’t get to mine timely, then it stays dirty until I can.

For some reason automatic car washes try to rip off my gas cap cover panel, every time.

Toyotas

I have one - 2011 - I take it brushless autos all the time. The paint looks as good as it did when it was new.

I’m not sure most Lambo owners qualify as long term owners.

Most can’t afford the maintenance cost that comes along with owning an exotic.

I have a 2011 White Toyota. The hood looks like it was sprayed with bird shot. It’s a known defect with paint on Toyotas from that time period.

Also owned a 2007 Honda before that and it partially repainted under a recall.

I’m sure it’s not great for your paint put it’s not that bad either.

I’ve been getting automatic car washes for years and if it harms my paint it’s not noticeable.

If a car wash is physically touching the paint, it is 100% scratching and maring the paint. There is no way around it.

Most people just don't care.

if you want to split the hair even more, every drop of rain and every minute the car is in sunshine, or any other element, the paint is damaged and its life shortened

I pay $20/mo for unlimited carwashes at the Kroger here in LC. My truck is almost 4 years old and the paint looks as good as the day I bought it. However, I do hand wax it once or twice a year.

I had a different drive through car wash try to rip off my gas tank cover. It pulled it back so much it bent the hinge, and put a ding in the side panel. Luckily, for $50 the Dent Doctor fixed it up like new.
