They did a great job piecing together this secondary, because it was going to be a complete mess without the transfer portal.
This is a fun group because I really do not know what to expect. Each guy has a little glimmer to hold out hope on. But each one also has some kind of major knock on them that leaves me guessing. I am an LSU guy first, but a Draft guy secondly. You see a group of 5 & 6th year players and wonder why aren't they in the league. The DL hopefully can be a crutch for these guys.
I think the focus on this year really turns to developing the young guys slowly. Love that Welch and Davis-Robinson are coming along. Sage Ryan, you gotta make something of your playing time. Major Burns, will you turn into a pillar for 2023? They gotta find where they stand because next year is a championship window type year. They need to get up to speed, fast.

I don’t expect greatness but the DL might finally get pressure and allow the DBs to cover and force QBs to move around. This will be our worst secondary in 25 years though.

IMO
This year’s secondary has the lowest ceiling an LSU secondary has had in a long time. But it has a very high floor. A ton of cfb playing experience in that group and all of them are solid players even though none are elite level players.
This is where I'm at.

You are going back WAY too far. The 2001 secondary was an absolute abomination and got torched all year. UT set an SEC individual passing record against us in Knoxville and we had to take a guy’s redshirt just to get to the finish line.
Saban fixed things quickly after that, but this secondary has a better combo of experience and talent than that one did. This secondary also looks a lot better than what we put on the field last season once Stingley and Ricks were off the table.

What are the height on these guys? FSU will be rolling out WR's that are 6'7", 6'4", 6'4", and 6'3"
Not as tall. What’s the speed looking like on your tall guys and your DBS? LSUs rolling out some receivers that run 4.4s.

3. Jordan Toles
Don't think he'll be contributing much for the Tigers this year

LSU Secondary Expectations
I expect teams are going to move the ball through the air against us pretty effectively.

Not when the QBs are running for their lives.

What happened with Toles again?

Will be an average sec group. We’re lucky it’s that good. Could have been worse.

Performance as a whole will surpass expectations due to the guys up front.

What’s funny is, as long as this secondary isn’t one of the worst all time, they’ll be better than a secondary O and co fielded with Ricks and Stingley as our starting corners ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

His Name is Colby Richardson, Not Dickerson. Colby got bragged on yesterday by Kelly. Stated he has put on lean extra 20lbs and it lighting fast.
