I am staying in SA for a very brief time in a few weeks, get in mid morning, hotel is in the downtown Riverwalk area on W Market St. Leave fairly early next morning. Wife will be with me so its not solo and with her in mind.

So I will only have time for possibly lunch and dinner. Would like to stay in that "general" area due to the time crunch.

I was thinking Domingo (which seems a little overpriced) for Lunch and Rebelle for dinner.

Thoughts?

If you think Domingo is overpriced you are going to shite your pants when you get to Rebelle.

Also, what day of the week will you be here? Air Force basic training graduation happens every Thursday so the Riverwalk is a fricking nightmare each weekend.

I have always wanted to go to Dick's Last Resort Apparently it is a restaurant were they all just intentionally act like assholes as they are serving you. Don't know why but I would find it hilarious. Last time I was there it was closed because of COVID.

I looked at the prices of both menus. Rebelle looked like the food was worth the price and seemed fine.

Domingo didn't seem worth the prices for the menu items but maybe it is.

It will be a Friday night in a few months.

If you want breakfast tacos go to taco haven (my personal fav) or Eddie’s taco house (insanely good tortillas). They are both just south of downtown. I don’t think they are open past 3 or so… but they have some of the best breakfast tacos in town. I get bean and cheese and then potato and egg myself.

Not sure about dinner… I am not an ot baller but if you want something nice would probably just go to dough for pizza although the one uptown is better. La Fonda is a good Mexican dinner place, maybe the best in San Antonio. It’s a couple miles north of downtown though.

Thought about going to Best Quality Daughter but I’m just not sure I’ll have the time.

Acenar and Boudro’s were considerations.

Have drinks at the Menger Bar, the old historic bar in the Menger Hotel where TR used to recruit his Rough Riders.

The whole RW is overpriced. The Pearl District is a short 10 minute drive and has better food options. I know you said you wanted to stay close to the RW but, this is one time you will regret restricting yourself.

Too bad you are not coming sooner cause it’s restaurant week through next weekend. Lots of deals.

If you like Tex-mex, the Original Blanco’s cafe has the best enchiladas I’ve ever had. They win best of San Antonio constantly. And very reasonable prices. This is not fine dining but is great food.

We pick of pans of enchiladas from Original Blanco on the way to Leakey. Very good stuff.

To OP, get drinks at Esquire and then Uber to Pearl. It’s truly worth it just for a short margarita crawl with apps at the different restaurants. Way less bums too.
