Fishing Charter near New Orleans

I have some friends coming in town for the Saints vs Bengals game, and they’d love to do a charter while here. Is there an outfit you’d recommend within 30 minutes of New Orleans. It would be 5 guys.

Bayou Charters out of Hopedale. October will be good, as the specs should be in to go along with the redfish. Book the trip for Friday. You won’t be worth a flying frick Sunday for the game if you go Saturday.
Get two boats and stay at the lodge Thursday night. Go into the city Friday after the fishing trip.

I looked into this a few weeks back and was surprised that prices skyrocketed since my last trip. I took one 2 years ago for like 450$ for 3 people and I got multiple quotes for 2 people a few weeks back for 700-800$. I asked why was it so much higher and they said because of fuel prices and inflation. Fuel did not jump up enough to warrant doubling the cost. Just one charter and their boat loans are paid off each month....

His cost of living is up tremendously as well.
This is his job for a family.
Yes, inflation is that bad.

450 was a deal even a few years ago I think. 700-800 sounds about right. That usually includes all ice gas and bait. Plus they do a lot of work before and after you leave their boat. If splitting that between 4-5 people it’s not bad at all.

My man, red dye farm diesel is now about X2.25 the price it was two years ago.
Go to your local Academy, all of your fishing hardware is somewhere between 50 - 100% higher now than it was two years ago.

Just wanted to say I appreciate the recommendations I was given. If all goes great, what is a decent tip for an $800 outing? I apologize, but I’ve never done a charter before.

Except for when they charge $100 for any additional heads and then most charters only allow 3-4 people and not 5.

I used Captain Ricky Hunt recently. Awesome guy, retired cop etc. We did a full day trip and he was very accommodating on everything, we ended up staying out there for about 10 hours at no extra charge. I'd highly recommend.

This... Lane Zimmer is the man. The guy could pull a box of trout out of a bathtub.
