I'll be in Nola for a wedding in February. Does anyone have a suggestion for a charter in Lafitte or somewhere close to NOLA. How is fishing that time of year?

don't shoot the first 120" buck you see. I hunt nodaway county. You are right that you are a little early but still should be good. hunt timber and bedding and hopefully you are near beans/corn and a river

good advice. There are some good hotel options in Newnan right off of the exit. Newnan has the usual BWW and Taco Mac but also has the square downtown. Redneck Gourmet, Rednexican, Karvelas Pizza, Meat n Greet for burgers, Goldens is a meat and three place. Checkout the Cellar too. Dinner is kinda pricey but they have an outdoor bar area that has live music.

I have a wedding to attend next year in New Orleans. Il Mercato? I have done the french quarter before and not really interested in re-living my college days. Any advice on what to do and where to eat outside of the FQ? Most likely would be fishing or golfing one morning if possible so any recs for that would be great too.

I'll second this, although they get the reputation for not being as prey driven as other dogs mine will hunt till he dropped dead. One thing to consider is they are definitely velcro dogs so if you dont like being followed around the yard/house at all times may not be the dog for you

Weather can be fickle that time of year and the shallow spots will likely have been pretty well picked. If you have kids I recommend trying mini-season. If you are deadset on October just be aware of the wind.

Anyone ever run their boat down to the Dry Tortugas and fished before? Doing some planning for a trip in July and worried about making that far of a run without any knowledge of the area. Any advice?

had this happen to me in stand. did a "practice run" at an ant pile on the far end of the field, clicked the safety and the thing went off. one of the scariest things ever happened to me hunting. put a timney trigger in it and havent had any issues
