we are not going to compete for a championship this year. we want to win as many games as possible. floor to me is 8 games, unless we're gambling on really having a big passing attack. safe play is to put in the running qb, play ball control and good defense and special teams, and out talent most of our competition and win the games we are supposed to. we'll also be in the other games and might steal 1 or 2.
that's the game plan kelly played at ND. and it was smart. when he was at cincinatti i was impressed with the all out passing attack. so he's a smart guy. and he'll use his tools as he installs his system and gets his qb going - in time.
brennan could win the job if he can show a command of the offense. otherwise, kelly, imo, will play it safe and not je0pardize any games he should win.
JMO. and of course, i'm not counting Nuss out, but you run the risk of losing some of those games you should win with a RS freshman. unless, of course, he just develops very quickly.

Not to mention, ball control doesn't strike me as a Daniels strong point right now, at least in the passing game. Don't know how well he handles the ball as a runner, but he better be ready to take some big hits if he is running against SEC defenses as part of our game plan.

Anyone with half a brain. I get as a fan that you want to win all of them. But anyone looking at it objectively realizes 9-3 would be a hell of a year. Back to the OP’s argument, none of that is a reason Daniels might start

Is 8-4 or 9-3 competing for a championship?
I’d say the overwhelming consensus on this board is 8-4, maybe a few are saying 9-3 and very small group at 10-2.
Hard to get everyone on the same page on this board when it comes to preseason predictions.

A 10 TD to 10 INT ratio is safe?

You think the overall consensus of the rant means something? You’re a bigger moron than I thought

I did. Too bad you can’t have a civil and rational conversation with me and go straight to name calling.

I think we win 8 or 9 regardless of who wins the QB job. And we won’t win more than 9 regardless of who wins the QB job
This team’s floor and ceiling are not far apart.

A 10 TD to 10 INT ratio is safe?
Daniels was 17-2 TD/INT his freshman year and 5-1 his sophomore year. So 22-3 before his junior year.

Also, posters saying he has a higher ceiling. What? He regressed from a freshman to a junior. Less yards, less TD’s, more interceptions. Don’t know what the obsession is, but y’all need to remove the rose colored glasses.

That’s a lot of words to say because he can run

The strength of our team is our wide receiver group, we should play to our strength by starting the qb can get the ball into their hands quickly and effectively

The biggest reason Daniels might start is:
If you have a hodgepodge OL, until it gels and becomes the stout front you hope for, it is best to have someone who has the ability to make the throws, even if only 80% of the time, but has the ability to scramble, keep D's more off guard and move the sticks if and when things break down.

Daniels is not going to be the starter. Wait until Wednesday's scrimmage and then watch Nuss separate himself from Daniels. Nuss will inevitably be the starter.
As Daniels is not in Nuss' league. It's not even close.

Exactly or any of the others that are named the starter.
