What's the point of putting "Sold" on a for sale sign rather than just taking it down?

Marketing for the agent but also sometimes houses get taken off the market for other reasons and go back on later

Why put a sign up at all? Nobody drives around looking for houses for sale. So yea, marketing. Neighbor may be thinking about selling.

Statistics- the same reason realtors make a listing for a buyer they already have. ‘Sold in 24 hours!’ Looks good for people looking for a realtor.

I bought my house because I saw the sign. Ive driven around plenty and notice the signs where I might have wanted to buy.

The internet is good once you see the sign

To brag about the fact that the agency got a sale.

Because you want people to know the house is no longer available.

It should be “under contract” instead of “sold” on the rider. Because you are required as a realtor to have the sign removed within 24 hours of the sale (in my MLS).

I still get calls on them even so. Closed on one last week I got a call 2 days before closing asking if I was sure it would close cause if not they wanted to put in an offer.

We spent the last 30 days looking in Northern California. We were so frustrated we were hitting up all the open houses and for sale signs

We may be old fashioned, but it's still a random little joyride my wife and I take at times. Our church is in an area we don't live in but ponder moving to at times. Sometimes after church we'll drive around and see what's for sale, make notes of addresses for looking up later, and sometimes even find one with an info sheet rolled up below the sign. Those are fun but rare these days. Cheap and easy pastime.

I won’t say it’s easy finding a good realtor, but there are some out there. A good one will help by alerting you to possibilities even before the general public is aware.

I have clients it took a year or more to get them a house. Some were just very particular about what they wanted. Nothing wrong with that, they usually go with new construction for which I help them connect with a good builder to design and build where they want.

I would imagine the old fashioned people like us arent buying homes that the 'kids' are also trying to buy.
