I have been trying to get her into the squat rack and onto bench press but she ain't having it.
That's almost all my wife will do. Squat, bench, deads, with a few accessories mixed in.

She is deathly afraid of becoming one of "those" women.

Don't feel bad, my fiancée refuses to do any sort of weight training. She does these "Beachbody" programs, and swears they work but they look like garbage to me.

Mine had the same concern, but I convinced her it would be fine as long as she stayed off steroids.

We have a home gym and on the weekends work
out together. A little harder on the weekdays.

all the time seems a little strange but some of the time wold be great!
my wife and i use to do a lot of workouts together.
as we got older her energy levels have gotten lower than mine and she works some long hard hours so working out is the last thing on her list to do (ie doesnt happen).
she did ask if my gym has a row machine so thats a good sign!

No
We've tried in the last, but we like different things, and she only wants to go 2-3 days a week.
She goes to Orange Theory and I go to Crunch Fitness

Before kids we did in the evening together. She actually lifted real weights
After kids we have not at all. I like to lift and she got into jazzercise and now one of those circuit gyms.
I wish she would lift again with me , squats are a girls best friend.

My wife typically wakes up 30 minutes before me to get a workout started in the garage. I’ll go join her and stretch while drinking my preworkout.

She does pilates and yoga and thinks I'm a meathead for pushing iron.

just to be clear is your friend and her SO truely working out together or are they just at the gym at the same time?
I believe they do some cardio together but she doesn't lift like he does. So she will literally sit around and wait for him to get done.

also is your friend really insecure because it sounds like it. and lets see if she keeps that up with young kids.
They have kids but they're older at this point.
I thought it was coming from a place of insecurity as well, especially when she was really appalled that either one of us will leave before the other if we finish early.
I was just curious if this was a common thing.

My wife doesn't have any interest in working out. That's fine with me.
My 5yo daughter always wants to come out to the garage and workout with me. I have some stuff for her to do with 1# DBs and a small box. She'll be done and back inside in 15 minutes.
My 13yo son has been lifting with me this summer. He easily adds 30-40 minutes to our workout time because he likes to talk.
I would rather workout by myself, but I'm not ever going to discourage my kids from working out and it's nice to have my son as a spotter on a few things.

No, our schedules don’t line up to allow that, but it would be more fun.
