I will be going to London for the Saints game, and flying in a couple of days before my friends. Does any one have any recommendations on where to stay, or thigs I can do on a Thursday/Friday? Late 20s single guy, and its my first time traveling to Europe. Thanks!

I always stay in Kensington. The Hilton is right next to the Shepard’s bush Red Tube.

My favorite thing to do is take a waterbus from Little Venice down to Camden market. The boat ride is ok, but Camden is a shite load of fun. Go to World’s End for a drink.

-London Eye, pay the extra for the VIP. Open bar, no wait in line and a private bucket. I think it’s only £30 more
-Changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace
-Go to the top of the shard
-Westminster, Big Ben, London bridge
-Tower of London tour
-Westminster Abbey tour
-King’s Cross if your a Harry Potter fan
-Go get some bonbons from Hardy’s
-Tate Modern
-Ride down the Thames
-Watch a play in West End

Borough Market is fun, too

It’s just a market but the food is good and Charles Dickens used to hang out there

You can also go up in the Shard and view London / it’s like £30 - view is nice if you don’t like Ferris wheels

There a a host of old pubs (talking some are 400+ years old) and a nice afternoon can be spent wandering from one to another. Ye olde Cheshire Cheese, Ship Tavern, blackfriars, etc…

British museum and Churchill war rooms; Tate Modern; list goes on and on.

See you there.

I had a similar situation where I had two days in London before the rest of my group arrived. I stayed in Covent Garden at The Hoxton, Holborn. It was a great location to meet people and explore.

The Bloomsbury Hotel is near the Tottenham Court tube station, which is the center of the tube universe and convenient to get you anywhere. The rooms have UK and US style electrical outlets, and the rooms are modern and decent size for London. The St. Giles is nearby and cheap if on a budget. I haven't stayed there in about 20 years, so read some reviews before trying it.

Get on one of those hop on/off tour buses and stay on it. Make the whole loop and see all the major sights (at least from outside). If you try to do it on your own, you'll run yourself ragged and won't come close to covering as much ground. It's great for a first-time visitor with limited time.

Pick a couple things that you see along the way (Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, etc.) and go back to them for inside tours.

If it’s your first time in London, I suggest getting familiar with the town map and subway system before you leave.

It’s easy to do. And you will see a lot of the highlights are grouped together, but some - not so much.

Forget Windsor castle as it will eat up too much time. But you can hit the Shard, tower bridge, Tower of London in an afternoon. Similarly, Westminster Abby is near Big Ben, and other attractions. Trafalgar Square checks a bunch of boxes…and so on.

You can visit everything I named and then some in less than 48 hours.

The Citymapper app is incredible for a city like London. It saved my arse when the Tube workers went on strike.

I've been to London a few times on business. I always stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel on the Strand. It's in the heart of London and you can walk to almost everything from that hotel.

A "late 20s single guy" might be tempted to skip Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's, but don't skip them.

Chances are you've never seen anything like them, it's well worth your time.

Depends on what you like. If you like history, tower of London beefeater tour and british museum were my absolute two favorite things in London!

Aside from the obvious I would like to add the Churchill War Rooms and a Jack the Ripper tour

I stayed by Paddington Station when I went, was able to get anywhere relatively quickly and had access to majority of the Underground lines.

As far was things to do, it really depends on what you like, London has some of the best sights in the world and has a huge variety.

British Museum
National Gallery
Tower of London
Westminster Abbey
St. Pauls
Churchill War Rooms
Globe Theater

I wouldn't recommend it with such a short time, but Windsor Castle is a half hour train ride away.
