Trump, as we all know, is totally within his rights to take the fifth. In any criminal case against him this will have no bearing whatsoever.
However, in a civil case his refusal to answer questions under oath will preclude him from some defenses and might cost him money.
(I'm no lawyer but this is what I've read.)
I'd trade my wealth for freedom pretty much any time and that may have been Trump's calculation as well.

Trump was pretty clear in his condemnation of pleading the fifth. I didn’t hear any conditions as to when he thought it was ok and when it wasn’t, just that it wasn’t. And then he pled the fifth and he becomes his typical hypocritical self and like every other politician. Your love of him is astounding.
