I am a CPA who has been in private industry as an internal auditor for 30+ years and also work for one of the on-line tax companies part time as I prep for retirement.

I personally feel that I am one of the biggest suckers in the country because I have been paid via W2 my entire life and pay taxes on virtually every dime I earn.

I was amazed at how many adults decided to file a tax return for the first time when filing a return was necessary to get the stimulus redistribution of wealth.

What needs to happen is that we go to a consumption tax where we ALL get a rebate of X amount covering for those below a certain poverty level.

If not that, then Congress needs to go to a flat tax where there are no deductions and focus their audit results on those that receive taxpayer moneies without filing a tax return and audit how they susist without under-the-table income and focus on business deductions.

This is just further weaponization of the IRS. This will be the task force responsible for freezing any and all assets for whatever reason they want. Also, may be the task force that will try and utilize the 5 million rounds of ammo that the IRS purchased in early 2022 at the expense of the tax payer. Keep cash on hand if you believe you may be one of the targets.

Looks I hate the IRS, but the idea that you have good internal controls and aren't a huge company, yet pay 10k is laughable.

Not a bit surprising that you’re not smart enough to understand the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Where do you even hire 87,000 new agents from?

You can bet your arse they won't all have accounting degrees. I'm sure they'll be diverse and inclusive, but low-quality hires.

They can't get people to sign up for the army to the point that they're accepting quadriplegics but now they're gonna hire 87,000 IRS soldiers and train them with guns. Their whole voter base either hates working or hates guns. Good luck.

You can guarantee that the new IRS will be focusing first on any Republican.

This is a massive deal and I'm surprised the board isn't melting. Small business are enemy number 1 to their goals. They do NOT want vertical class movement whatsoever. The IRS will be their border wall.

Agreed. This needs to be stickied. We are constantly bombarded with authoritarian headlines. But this one in particular is frightening.

1. Nobody told you the IRS couldn’t get more oppressive because we have guns

I have been told on here repeatedly that stuff like this can't or won't happen in countries that have arms. Lets not get this twisted this is a corrupt/tyrannical act. They are weaponizing the IRS to come after American citizens.

2. It sounds like this gives you a chubby

See above. Why would a blatantly corrupt action (which this is) give me a 'chubby'?

3. There ARE things a government can’t or won’t do when it’s citizens are armed. I hope we never see them, but we probably differ there

Like what? We just had a supposed 'stolen election'. Does it get any worse than that? What is your tipping point if that isn't it? Think of all the corrupt and tyrannical policies and actions our Federal Government has done since September 11th alone. Not one person on here used a gun to try and stop it.

No doubt that sounded much better in your head than it came off as a post.

Is this action and the previous action(s) (this isn't the first time this administration has increased IRS capability or funding which is clearly aimed at everyday working Americans) corrupt and tyrannical? Only a Soy Liberal would try and say the IRS is not a corrupt organization. I obviously do not agree with this policy at all and do not support it. Why would you try and assign that belief to me? Guns didn't prevent this policy, it didn't prevent a 'stolen' election, and it hasn't prevented our country from being invaded by low IQ, uneducated, unskilled third world Illegal Immigrants. I have been told stuff like this only happens in the UK and Australia etc. So what gives?

You've also been told stuff like J6 political imprisonment only happens in Russia, China, and NoKo. Unless your proposition is someone should shoot IRS agents willy nilly, your post was a simpleton pointless troll.

Well, you tried to get it right but still couldn't. I'm not talking about gunning down rank and file IRS agents. They are just doing what they are told. I'm talking about the politicians that are pushing this agenda. These very politicians are not scared in the least of you or I having guns. Heck, just the last 5 years shows us that.

A 'troll' is actually being so gullible to believe that in 2022 our government is scared to make or won't make corrupt and tyrannical policies or decisions because we have an armed populace. That my friend is a troll.

I hate big spending bills but as a CPA I can say first hand the IRS desperately needs people. They have about a 10% phone call answer rate right now and it’s hurting business. No we don’t want more foot soldiers to pick on small businesses but guess what, taxes still exist and our clients have complex tax issues and sometimes you have to talk to the IRS. Our job is much more difficult when they aren’t staffed and don’t answer the phone.

Here's an idea. Implement a VAT tax that applies to everyone and eliminate the IRS entirely. Probably eliminate a lot of accountants too, but I can live with that.

Folks, Trump had the right improvement program for the IRS. Simplify the return to what could fit on a post card. Eliminate All special deductions and check off how large the family, how much earned / reported. Do the same for small business.

With that approach, and computerized returns , you could then lay off half the Irs workforce.

Corporate returns could use the same clean-up

What a brain dead take. lmao.

Most of the IRS workforce deals with customer service and audits. Audits will never stop b/c too many morons lie and cheat on their tax returns.

Computerized returns? You do realize that a human does not look at almost all returns that are processed by the IRS?

You are talking out your arse about a subject you obviously know frick all about.
