Two-thirds of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia recorded the highest amount of coral cover in nearly four decades, though the reef is still vulnerable to climate change and mass bleaching, a monitoring group said on Thursday.

The northern and central parts of the UNESCO world heritage-listed reef have experienced some recovery while the southern region has seen a loss of coral cover due to crown-of-thorns starfish outbreaks, according to a report by the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), a government agency.

AIMS CEO Paul Hardisty said that while the coral in the north and central regions was a sign the reef could recover from disturbances, the loss of coral in the southern region demonstrated how the reef is still vulnerable to “continued acute and severe disturbances that are occurring more often and are longer-lasting.”

For those non-Global Warming believers just look at this photo below and look at the lack of coral in that deep channel.

But wait......

That other dude said 80% of coral reefs worldwide are dead and gone and 100% will be gone in a couple of years. He also said 90% of plankton are gone AND that we have already killed off 80% of the bugs and insects in the world.

Anyone with walking around sense knows the climate is changing. Also, anyone with walking around sense knows the notion we can control that change is beyond Asinine. They also know it makes far more sense for humans to adapt to climate change (humans have proven to be quite good at adapting) rather than wasting time and resources in a hopeless effort to control the changing climate.

I love how this article takes a positive trend and attempts to turn it into a negative. They could have stuck with reporting the positive news that reef cover in some areas is at a forty year high, but that doesn't fit the agenda I guess.

Yeah, but how is the sea ice in the Arctic doing? Surely it’s all gone by now.

How much do we need to raise taxes in order to combat this?

So, just kill off the crown of throws starfish, and it will blossom?

Put a limit on em, open a season, and pay the way for 200k Cajuns to go and hunt em.
Problem solved in single month.

If I wanted that reef to thrive, I’d stop sending people in motorboats out there to check on it.

Climate change, you swing!!

We changed the name from global warming several years ago when we couldn't prove the earth was warming.

Trust science¡!!!!

Or something like that. Whatever the commies are saying.
