Anthony Kiedis is a downright terrible singer, but he's found a band quirky enough to make it work for him.

I think you gotta rule punk singers out for this thread. That's part of the sound what makes punk what it is.

Even though he's not great, he at least improved from the early years. He gave the effort for sure.

Reading many of the responses in this thread makes me wonder what it takes to be considered a good singer. Damn

Heh. I considered that when adding the last three.

It may not be your taste, but the musicians in the band are beyond stellar
Good point. I deserve being called out.
His voice just makes me cringe.

See, I feel like Hetfield is actually a decent singer, whether he played for Metallica or not. Sure, he is perfect for them, but I feel like he could be a solo artist and still be a good singer.
Agreed. Hetfield is never going to be a great singer live, specifically after he blew his voice out twice in the early 90s and had to basically adapt a way of live singing that sounds pretty bad at times but protects his voice long term. I still love the "sound" of his voice and he can always cut good album vocals with multiple takes and studio tricks

Agree and I love the Stones. Mick is one of the greatest front men but not great vocalist. He sings their catalogue better than anyone though.

Any song not sung by Levon Helm by the Band
Robbie and Danko both have unique sound that would not work without being backed by the Band who then are followed by a Levon sung tune which brings the circle back together.

To be fair, Joey Ramone never claimed he could sing.....and in the beginning, no one in The Ramones claimed they could actually play instruments. They played with instruments.
They have evolved.
They have evolved.
